I don't know much about this game yet, so can anybody help me with a 1 handed dagger build? I wanna try it as it sounds promising. I wanted to have a build that isn't too squishy, but could deal massive damage without worrying about mp. And, it would also be a bonus if it could be strong without needing crystas. Would it be nice if I used Str and Agi as my stats? What skill trees would I also need? Ty in advance :);)

I am new to this game too and also interested in 1h and dagger combo. From my understanding from using a 1h sword str and dex are the stats that will maximize attack, agi would help with aspd and the dagger skill gattling knife but not much help towards other skills.

If you want a character that isnt squishy there is a guide for that. The main point i get from it is get def and mdef to 250 and then it doesnt matter much after that, use revitas on auto items, agi raises dodge but not evasion and evasion is better than dodge because it can negate enemy crits, and get your hp up.

Like i said i am new and my 1h dagger char is only lv 71 so far so i dont know if it is gonna work and the current combo i use doesnt have any dagger skills in it but i hope to add some when i get to higher levels.
    [Astute-> spiral air(save)-> impact(con)-> tempest (smite)-> trigger slash (con)]

I am still working on my build so im still figuring things out but i am currently lv 106 and my def is about 150 and my mdef is almost 250 (240 something). Vit will boost def while int will boost mdef, i have not put any points in either so i have gotten my defensive stats through equipment.

My mdef is currently higher because right now i am using the additional gear elven ear caps which give 100 mdef and a magic barrier of 1000. Magic barrier will block that much damage against 1 magic attack and then has a 30 second cooldown. The ear cuffs also give 10 evasion, my dagger also gives 10 evasion, and with my light assassin garb and the skill for light armor i get 35 evasion from my armor giving me 55% evasion rate to help with my lower def.

Another way for survivability is to refine your armor and additional gear. For every level you get 1% resistance for physical, magical, and fractional damage. So refine them both fully gives +30% resistance.

That is how i have been trying to handle survivability, i dont have any good xtals yet. Boss roga gives 1000 hp which is awesome, and then you can upgrade it with iconos for 2000 extra hp. So i would suggest farming them or just buying if you save up spina(i dont know prices yet)

Im not sure which dagger skills you want to go for but i went for gattling knife. I like using trigger slash before it in combos because it is slow and trigger slash speeds it up.
I start with [astute -> trigger slash (save) -> gattling knife (smite) -> impact (con)] which only uses 1 mp if trigger slash is lv5 or lower.
Im working on a follow up combo to help prorate damage, so far i have [tempest slash -> warcry(save) -> trigger slash(con) -> gattling knife(smite) -> impact (con)] i want it to only take 2 mp but i think the trigger slash costing 3 mp messes that up right now. The second combo should prorate 2 physical attacks and 2 magic attacks.

If you want to use gattling knife, agi would help boost the power while boosting dodge for even more survivability, but other skills will suffer dps as a result.

I still need a player crafted weapon with good stats but i made it through the main quest so far (tyrant) with what i have built.

    Good ideas so far, Mostry.

    Stats:

The point of Str is to max Atk and Critical Damage, but lacks Hit Rate, so therefore your gear should be focused on raising your Critical Rate, which does not miss.

Dex, is to max Atk and Hit Rate, which therefore reduces your reliance on Critical Rate, leaving your gear free to focus on other things, like Evasion.

Agi raises only your Attack Speed, and by nature, Gattling Knife. It is rather not recommended for this build.
    Combo:

Assuming you are going to stick with the 3mp Trigger Slash, you can try this:
Astute > Tempest (Save) > Trigger Slash (Cons) > Gattling Knife (Smite) > Impact (Cons) [1 mp combo]
    -follow up-
Tempest > Trigger Slash (Save) > Gattling Knife (Smite) > Impact (Cons) [2 mp follow up]

Thanks Sowc, i went full dex then str.
I have been wondering if mixing in some vit would be good because my high evasion doesnt help with magic attack, aoe attacks centered at the enemy and the skills the move in a line. All these attacks are commonly used by bosses which causes me to run around more than i was hoping for.

And thanks for the combo help :)

    Ok...

If you want STR builds, you'll need to invest in crit dmg/ crit rate equipment. Which could be expensive to new players starting off. As you'll need to maximize your hit rate with successful critical hits, as your low dex will reduce accuracy.

Dex builds work well, and your base damage benefits hidden arm at around 20% of your normal dmg. It only relies on dex%atk% equipment that can be either made or found from mobs with patience.

Dex won't out damage a well build str crit build in the early stages of the game. But you'll be able to handle most bosses without issues, you just won't get Atk rank that often.

In addition, the Graze system means STR builds will need accuracy / dex to increase dmg at STR cap. While Dex builds will need STR at Dex cap. So you'll end at the same spot end game, and it will just come down to equipment focus.

This is my 1h dagger stats, if i use str and crit gear my dmg is pretty good. But i prefer Dex, as i don't like keeping up with recipe updates. Plus... I'm hoping they just release an OP crit dagger like an extreme version of Odd Shaped knife.

I'm fortunate that i have Crit rate /crit dmg+ on my avatars. So i can compensate slightly for lack of str and player gear. And benefit from high accuracy... not that it helps much in Hard+ boss modes.
