Tbh I appreciate this move to promote long Combos.
    Back then I only did
    Impact>Burst>Finale

but now I have learned that Wizard Skills and Dancer skills are pretty fast animation that can be used as "Combo Spacers" as I'd like to call it.

    Now Im using
Opener>Dance(Save)[Astute Dance after I reset again. Rn im just testing if the combo would work]>GSW(Cons)[No need to worry about rebuff]>Impact(Cons)>Ele Slash(Minds Eye)>Magic:Burst(Smite)
It's only 60% Smite but hey not bad. Once I get Astute Dance for my Save Dance, This would consume less mp than an Impact Burst Smite Combo.

Also, the initial skills can be cast virtually anywhere
but the Damaging part begins with Ele slash and casts at 6m
This gives a lot of room for mobility. You see, splitting combos is Good.

If there wasnt such need to make long combos, Id have Ele slash in a separate short combo and that will drain my mp so much faster

Ppl dont realize They should split their long combos into 2 so they could survive.
I also noticed now that I have to be more aware of the boss pattern if I want to be alive. Back then in Short combos, Just spam. If AOE pops up, walk away, then keep spamming.
Now you have to be aware of the pattern.

It took me a lot of researching and trial and error to reach where I am now. Making my own builds, making my own combos. Most of the player base doesnt even understand how the combo system works and yeah, copy pastes even the Combos.
I dont mind if the old smite comes back. I wish they'd keep the bonuses for Long combos. You will see who the at least knowledgable players are and who the copy pastas are.

PS Just wanna mention, I think one of the most hurt here yet ppl forget about them is the Finale Mages.

Finale is already slow on its own

Combo Spacers can be fast with GSW but who in their right mind would get GSW on a skill that forces you to be a sitting duck?

Most Finale peeps are poor ppl who cant afford better gears for Physical classes yet. Maybe some of them are dedicated mage players but the dedicated mage players move to Magic:Burst eventually cause Finale is boring, slow, and deadly(to boss and caster).
Finale can do a lot of damage with really cheap ass gears. So It's reasonable to expect Finale mains are poor. im not degrading anybody here XD (Im a mage too yknow)

I'm a magic gunner, and I'd say this long-combo-encouraging-attempt change might be somewhat not bad for me, as CF is not affected much with long combo, and most physical skills are usually fast which would help the slow-ass Finale to some extent.

But that's just on theory, haven't tested in reality yet since i suck at predicting bosses' movements.

Yeah, backstep is pretty useful. If we can also use evasion or guard mid combo without breaking combos, that would also be a nice addition.
