i still think bowgun is the DPS side of shot build if geared right, while bow is more like SUPPORT DPS.
altho yes, damage is the only side where bowgun outshines bow, even then it needs extensive gears n don't forget to abuse guard break if u party with bow user lol.

tho i personally dislike bowgun coz of it's attack animation lol.

Bowguns have higher damage, but most gunners have around 60% crit rate, and a snipe that doesn't crit hits absolute garbage even with 25% more damage. I've outdone many gunners with this build, Altho that probably can be attributed to my equips too, since 2s equips are just Op.

I swapped to bow literally just for the crit rate, was sick of hitting 80k snipes when it could have been a 160+, or a 40 when it could have been at least 80, with a bow, I never have to worry about a white hit again, every snipe is a crit, which is extremely powerful.

 

Theres a small misconception with people saying that bg snipe is 250% more powerful than bow snipe which is absolutely incorrect.
Its just that the multiplier of snipe for bg is 10.5 and the multiplier of snipe for bow is 8 which is a 2.5 mutliplier difference.
But that doesnt mean bg snipe will do 2.5times the damage (aka +250% dmg)
Its impossible and can never be experienced a non critical snipe from bg doing more dmg than a critical snipe.
Actual difference is [(10.5/8) - 1]*100 = 31.25%
A bg snipe only does 31.25% more dmg than a bow snipe not 250% but has like 20% less stability and around 20-25% less critical rate too.

Lets take an example of full dex rest CRT and gears are arranged in such a way total critical rate becomes 100%
We will just see a battle between multipliers as thats the only the only thing different between the two weapons.

Bg snipe:-
Multiplier = 10.5
Stability average multiplier = 0.8
Critical rate reduction multiplier = 0.75
End multiplier = 10.5*0.8*0.75 = 6.3

Bow snipe:-
Multiplier = 8
Stability average multiplier = 0.9
Critical rate (no reduction) = 1
End multiplier = 8*0.9 = 7.2

7.2 > 6.3 a bow snipe will do average 14% more damage than a bg snipe if 100% critical is achieved over a long battle.

Sorry alzy for the brain tumor that can be caused by the numbers but it was important to show this calculation to prove how bow is better than bg now. Also did this as me and @TheXIIIthGuy needed their daily dose of fangirling over numbers.

 

Also yes i am assuming that both bg and bow got same ATK here.
And also i neglected the non critical bg hits as well sorry about that but i can definitely say that if its a long run for example a gem run bow will be much more effective as more than half of non critical hits are gonna miss.
Back in the days during like lvl70 caps total crt would hardly reach like 50% total critical talking about the good ol' c777 days that means -25% critical nerf of snipe on bg wouldnt make much difference but now the difference is doubled as 100% critical is obtainable.
Bg is steadily losing its efficiency against bows at higher caps bows will completely outclass bg.

Hi i have a question, my combo is Moeba Shot > Smoke Dust(save) > Paralyzis Shot(cons) > Impact(cons) > Snipe(smite). My question is where i can introduce Sneak Attack.

 

Put it at the end swifted, right now you have 2 extra mp to use up with the smoke dust save, put it at the end so that after your first combo you'll never gain aggro if you have sneak maxed.

 

It is Alzys build so sure enough he can back up his build with a vid(which he did). Resets can cost money and these things take time to build so it would be unfortunate to take on a build just to find out its not what you had in mind(moreso as new players with little to no resources). So although its ultimately up to the thread owner and they dont have to if they dont want to, it is something that 'should' be included. To assist in a player's decision to attempt a build or leave it alone

I see your point but on same token the choice is solely theirs, not you or admins or anyone else. Also if the theoretical side interests you and others can vouch for it then its worth a shot. Play the game. have fun. Learn something new Also please refrain from snappy remarks "U can try work too" Many people have jobs and for those who dont its not your place to comment on. Sneak gives you 100 aggro to spend per level, meaning at level 5 you get 500 aggro (smoke dust) that doesn't generate any aggro in most combos. It can keep mobs off you if you're careful, but it's much easier with level 10
