    Another build thread by me!
This one is about my 1h/shield tank, as stated in the title. I've updated it since the last time I used my tank, and I've begun to love tanking again. This is a pure tank, meaning full VIT, and not focused on damage. Now without any further ado, lets get into the guide.

    Stats:
    VIT: 255
    DEX: 133
    MTL: 1

    Blade Skills level 3
    Sword Mastery - 5
    Quick Slash - 5
    War Cry - 1

    Magic Skills level 3
    MP Charge - 5
    Chain Cast - 5
    Power Wave - 6

    Shot Skills level 3
    Shot Mastery - 5
    Sneak Attack - 1
    Long Range - 5
    Quick Draw - 10

    Survival Skills level 2
    Safe Rest - 5
    HP Boost - 10
    Short Rest - 5
    MP Boost - 10

    Support Skills Level 3
    Mini Heal - 5
    Recovery - 10
    First Aid - 10

    Shield Skills level 4
    Shield Mastery - 5
    Shield Bash - 5
    Shield Cannon - 1
    Aegis - 10
    Protection - 10
    Guardian - 10

    Knight Skills level 3
    Assault Attack - 5
    Parry - 5
    Perfect Defense - 10

    Dual Sword Skills level 3
    Dual Sword Mastery - 5
    Reflex - 5
    Flash Blast - 1

    Halberd Skills level 1
    Flash Stab - 1

    Mononofu Skills level 3
    Bushido - 10
    Two hands - 5
    Meikyo Shisui - 1
    Shukuchi - 10

Now, the combo section of my guide. This build uses a very off-meta way to draw aggro, as you may have noticed, I'm using supporting skills and self buff skills, like Sneak Attack, and Flash Blast. This is because these skills are counted as "Support Skills" What I mean by a support skill, is a skill that can be casted without a target. These skills still generate aggro, without needing to be anywhere even close to a boss, or even needing to damage a boss at all. This is extremely useful, since you have no limit to the distance between you and a boss to generate aggro and make it attack you. The playstyle of this tank is to use the first combo to gain aggro quickly, then use auto attacks and AMPR to gain your mana back to continue casting. With the correct amount of aspd, you will be able to recharge enough MP to keep casting your aggro generator, and with every auto, you get more mp, and generate a bit of aggro too.

Combo 1: Aggro Generator (Mp Cost - 200. Aggro Generated = 1200 base)
Perfect Defense > War Cry (save) > Meikyo Shisui (cons) > Flash Blast (cons) > Sneak Attack (swift)

Combo 2: Close Range stunning Aggro Generator (Mp Cost - 100. Aggro Generated = 900 base)
Flash Stab > War cry (save) > Shield Cannon (swift) > Shield Bash (swift) > Flash Blast (cons)
Combo 3: Close Range no stun Aggro Generator (Mp cost - 100. Aggro generated = 900 base)
Flash Stab > War Cry (save) > Meikyo Shisui (swift) > Holy Fist (swift) > Flash Blast (cons)
    Combo 4: Guardian cast (Mp cost - 100. Aggro generated = 1000)
Flash stab/Shield bash > Guardian (save) > War cry (smite)

Use the first combo for generating Aggro at range, and use the second one to generate aggro while you're close to a boss and you want to generate aggro while also stunning the boss. Keep in mind the fact that Aggro% gears will increase the amount of aggro these combos generate by a significant amount. Both of the first two combos are fairly quick to execute, the first can be used while you have the bleed effect, and the second can be used otherwise. The third can be used to generate aggro if you don't want to stun the boss

    Skills Explanation:
I recently added guardian to the build, there's plenty of extra skill points and it has no negative benefits for the tank itself.

Sneak attack, while usually used to cancel aggro, actually generates 400 by itself on builds that do not use a bow. And the aggro canceling effect will not affect any of the other skills in the combo, because they are classified as "support" skills (They do not need a target to be casted). This means the full aggro will be generated by the main combo.

I have Recovery maxed at level 10, because when it's level 10, it heals two status ailments from the caster, is nearly instant, and generates 200 base aggro. Not only that, but at level 10, if you don't have a status ailment, it prevents you from getting one for 25 seconds.

I have Power Wave at level 6 because this provides my One-Handed sword with 8 meters of range. This means I can keep my distance, dodge aoe, and keep generating aggro and regenerating my MP with auto attacks.

    Equipments:

    Main Hand:

    Toy Hammer (Evil Magic Sword)
    Critical Rate +100
    Critical Damage -150

I use toy hammer as my main hand weapon, of course, for the 100 CRIT rate. Evil magic sword is for AMPR, and aggro.

    Shield:
    Dark General's Shield
    Guard Rate+14%
    Guard Power+30%
    Dark Resistance+10%
    VIT +2%
    Aggro +30%

This is the best shield in the game for Aggro% stats. Not only that, but it adds 30% guard power too, and dark resist.

    Additional:
    Circle Of Order (Dusk Machina)
    Physical Resistance +20%
    Magic Resistance +20%
    Light Resistance +10%

    Special Gear:
    Dark Fighter Bangle (
    Tapir)
    MaxMP +400
    Aggro +25%
    Accuracy +3

You'll want to use different armors depending on the situation you're in.
For all bosses EXCEPT Dark and Light element bosses, use Brigandine, f
or Light and Dark element bosses, use Twilight Dress, for any other situation, use your custom-stats armor. The best armor for each situation is pretty self explanatory while looking at the stats, but this is just a basic way to explain it.

    Anniversary Dress +C (Ifrid)
    VIT+7%
    MaxHP+7%
    Aggro+10%

    Twilight Dress +C (Iconos)
    MaxMp+500
    Cast Speed+500
    Light Resistance +20%
    Dark Resistance +20%
    Magic Barrier +1000
    Attack Speed -500
    Fire Resistance -50%

    Brigandine +C (Ifrid)
    MaxHP+1000
    Physical Resistance +25%
    Magical Resistance +25%
    Dodge -30%
    Stability -10%
    Light Resistance -75%
    Dark Resistance -75%

    NOTES:
-Always remember to refine your armor, additional gear, and shield to the highest you can. Every 1% refinement value will add +1% physical, magical, and fractional resistance. It is very important that you do this, to prevent as much damage as possible.
-The base AMPR of this build is 40. This means you regenerate 40 MP for every auto attack.
    - Use buffs if you can afford them! You'll want to be using Magic Absorption Stones (+6 AMPR), Giga Speed Potions (+750 ASPD), and Vita Plus (Hp+*whatever one you're using*), MagiAdd II (+200 mp, +2 Ampr), and Ginko Nut Rice if you can afford them (+25% magical and physical resistance)

With 100crit from toy hammer, i think around 50-60 dex might be enough? You could put the rest to agi for dodge and aspd, or int for mp and mdef.

I’ve had only 50 mtl for the longest time. It does work. And it can be helpful as a backup. I wouldn’t rely on it though to work all the time.

1.You explained why you dun use Guardian but i also see no sanctuary
    2. Any reason why your only way of interruption is shield bash lvl1 which has stun rate under 50% ?
    3. In the description you write power wave lvl 6 but in skill list it is listed as 10?

I have no armor remodel actually, with heavy I would get guard rate and then aspd would die, and with light I'd drop below 250 Def and mdef.

I don't really need to interrupt bosses very often to successfully tank them. The only thing I need is shield bash for stun if it's needed, there are so many impact users out there to help with breaking. I will add guardian and smash to my build at future caps though, for now I like it the way I have it.

Also shield bash has a stun rate of 77% :')

And this tank doesn't exactly focus on hp, so Sanctuary wouldn't be all that great with a long casting animation and my tank having ~24k hp means that it wouldn't affect any of the new boss attacks which will be popping off more than 2400 damage. + you have to keep casting Sanctuary because it only lasts a few seconds. I think it's more trouble than it's worth.

Edited power wave that's just a typo

I dont see the need of sanct when he gains good aggro with faster execution. I do agree he needs sanct IF his goal is to reduce dmg.

I used to do sanct but I hate it coz I interrupted more than it went success. Personal opinion tho.

I put Swift tag on Sanctuary most of the times. And it is so fast that It never be interrupted. Sanct itself generates 400aggro, which is imo good for aggro generator.

Sanctuary actually generates 800 Aggro btw

It's just a bit slower than other skills and I just don't think I need it especially when I can't make full use of it since I don't have extremely high hp.

Its 400 but he prolly misunderstood me when I said 800 as he has 92% aggro (almost 100) which would almost double the aggro to near 800
