Angelic Sniper - Discontinued

Im doing Javelin > Sanctuary (Save) > Impact (Consec) > Storm (Smite) on my Mage, pending field test.

 

Without another skill as ender after Storm (smite), wouldn't that make mp use of Storm x2 and nullifies Impact's mp-halving effect?

 

Storm will cost 800 from Smite, halved to 400 by Impact, repays to 400 saved from Sanctuary.

One thing I learned with training with Squid is I needed to be agile to move myself out of danger and reposition for new Sanctuary. So I'm keeping my combos short.

 

Ah I see. I keep having this "info" that without a combo ender after smited skill, the smited skill will cost 2x

Yes, maintaining agility to reposition and moving out of danger is very important. I'll try to keep my combos short too

But one challenge is to keep the boss locked down long enough to hit it for the full duration of Storm. That is one of the typical problem players have when trying to solo bosses with mages. Not so for Shot skills because they are auto-locked onto target. Magic skills can auto-lock onto single targets too, but these skills' damage are really pathetic.

I forgot to ask: What is your HP level for your character and Squid's? Sanctuary's buff is based on MaxHP.
For our builds (Gunners & Mages) our MaxHP aren't more than 3k typically at char lvl80. Is it still that amazing?
By your estimate, how much damage mitigation is there for HP levels between 1.8k to 3k?

 

It did cost 2x, and Impact halved the 2x ^^

Same question I asked Prec in her build, Storm is great, but locking down is the hard part. In my red Mage post, I tried Spiral Air to lock down, but the Jan 14 update seems to have changed Spiral such that it now only flinches once

 

I have 1.7k hp, with hp boost and nothing else. 3k with Shield on my Mage.

I think the reduction is about 95%. I remember Roga hitting me about 420 with that move and now it's down to 21.

If I get Bless 10,Gloria 5, Mini Heal 5 and Sanctuary 10, I won't have any SPs for Force Shield & Magical Shield (additional 1k HP)
So I'll be running with a DPS/Support Mage of ~1.8k HP

 

We won't be getting new stuff until lvl 120 or 125, so we will have more SP to expend on current builds. I'm still hoping that there will be a OP white magic down the priest tree, that way we can ditch Mage tree altogether.

 

Yup, we'll have more SPs to develop our current builds. My build isn't complete yet. DPS part is basically covered. Now building up the defense, buff and healing portion.

Yes, I'm hoping for a OP white magic too. Then we can maybe ditch Storm and use white magic for attack but still using Impact for halving mp use.

I'm curious what are the effects on this build's magic if we equip bow instead of bowgun+M.D.
We understand longer MP Charging time is a given.

 

Without MD, you generally have:

Less proc chance for flinch from Javelin
Small radius for Storm and Wall
1 less hit from Lance
Small radius from Blast

It's not a huge difference if you use Support skills instead of magic. But then we start adding INT and use Magic, it will hurt.

 

My current build has deviated off to Support type.

Added build types in guide. As of now, Support type is far superior at current stage. I sniped my first 45k at Warmonger last night. Taking advantage of elemental arrow and crit rate, while having support skills to keep safe is the essense of the Support type.

When we maxed second Stat INT, I will compare the 2 routes again.

 

Updated build. Improved combo duration and tweaked combos having observed @Precaria's fighting style.

The optimized version has drastically improved over previous versions and performs well in field test yesterday.

Special thanks to the players who tested it with me last night, whom I don't know their names on forum yet. Thanks to Precaria for training, she opened my eyes to what a bow-gunner is played.

With the 2 rounds I tanked Roga while playing with Prec and @Janine, I used 3 Revita III total ^^

 

@Saphos Did you max Shot passive Long Range?

 

Didn't have SP for it, but most of the time, I find myself behind / beside the tank, so I won't be 8m out.

The original idea of using Oracle robe was only for the 200mp as I find myself struggling with 500mp. I don't know how or why, with this set up, I experienced higher damage. Hitting 95-96k on the new boss quite a few times last night.

I thanked her in game last night, but I can never thank her enough. She is a huge reason why this build is now competitive. She taught me how to Snipe by partying with me even when this build sucked, and continue to show me how it should be done. She brought Angelic Sniper on the map.

Never once did she say give up and follow her build. She is a truly amazing person.

And I'd say follow your build because is unique, helpful and pretty cool, hell you got attacker over Janine and me various times, how could it not be competitive? Keep it up.

Does sanctuary have casting time? And how many seconds?

 

Mine casts Just a little over a sec. Our Capd are high due to DEX.
