Any advice please

Refining armor adds damage reduction instead of defense. At +S you gain 15% damage reduction from armor and add each.

It is only useless to refine your armor if you run a GSW build.

 

can i ask is stronger ag%ainst element apply for output damage or base damage and is it better compare to cd% in a element boss fight

 

elemental stat will always win bro. Those element against % for example "Steong against element 20%", you deal 20% more damage on that boss, stacking it more with 20% from the armour will boost your overall damage even further to 40%.

 

Ok I'm about to get machina ring but it has ailment resistant -10% but since it's what you told me to get I'm gonna get it. Also I went ahead and did the imitator upgrade to mardula. I'll lose 600 mp with the machina ring though since my current ring give 600 MP. I'm trying not to take any liberties here with what you said I should get just cuz I've screwed up so many times.

machina ring with venena and lalvada isn't bad.

Venena gives 500mp 1% att&matt 2% stability

Lalvada gives 4% att and matt

 

machina ring gives 300 mp, so you're losing only 300. I dont think you really need 2000 max mp on a physical build. just my thoughts tho

so wait. Along with additional gear and Shield, will it be 15x3=45%? If you can add more damage reduction then....

The problem is damage reduction is multiplicative. So lets say you have shield, armor and add +S so 45% total. Then you have 250 def/mdef which is another 20%. One might think that with 35% physical/magical resistance you have 100% damage reduction. But because its multiplicative its: (1-0.45)*(1-0.2)*(1-0.35)=28.6% So you would still take 30% of the damage

 

Alright I got everything except a couple xtals for bear hat and armour. I used to kill flare volg in one hit on hard but it's taking way longer now. I'm not gonna question it though cuz apparently I needed all this. Maybe I should've kept the +s sword but since I guess it had way too many crit stats I apparently didnt need I figured sell it for all you guys suggested.

 

I didn't read the replies, I only read the original post so let me say my opinion on this.
Your damage depends on your 3 things
1- equipments
2- stats distribution aka level
3- skills and combos

There's certainly nothing like "this player can do damage and that player can't" it's mostly about gears and combos. There's no op players and weak players, it's MOSTLY ALL ABOUT YOUR GEAR.
You can watch videos about builds of the weapon you use, or if use ds/ktn/mage you can just show me your gears/stats etc and I'll help you with them cause I use these 3 classes and I think I'm pretty good with them.

 

Thanks man for now I'm just sticking with OHS for long while. I dont wanna drive myself crazy again switching classes anymore.

BTW all this stuff you guys suggested is doing something at least. Dark stinger did a 53k hit which a lot more than ever. So that's a personal best for that skill at least.

 

I've played this game for 5 years, and I still keep seeing new ways to build characters. If you find it hard to keep up with the "so-called" dps meta, mate you are not alone.

I dont keep up with the level cap anymore, mainly because I have like 17 characters I legitimately play with; One account has 3 ways of doing DW (1 is a Agi>Str>Tec BS) and my main account has 4 mage builds, (1 is an Int>Agi Smith) and 3 Bow+Katana characters(1 is my Tec>Dex Smith+Alchemist).

Frankly I have too many fking characters i wanna play.

 

Nice that's a lot of characters. Yeah after what everyone has told me I'm not gonna go after huge damage anymore. I'll save that for the players that can deal with all that. I'm taking what I've been suggested to get and call it a day.

 

What he is refering to is def and mdef stat. For dps (non rampage/gsw), 250 on both stat is the golden value and it's easily attainable even with adv garb.
Refine on shield, armor and add reduce dmg on another layer which is always good. I don't go for +s though for them. +b is more affordable and good enough.

 

Hey so correct me if I'm wrong on this but is all this that I got now making my character more balanced now? Cuz it seems like certain things in the second half of the game are going smoother for me now and it seems like I'm lasting longer in battle.

 

Yes this is kind of the optimal 1s set up with decent survivability. With hp food and if you decide to pick HP Boost you will end up at about 10k HP and will do very decent damage. What I named you there is basically an affordable version of my equipment.
