Basic question for noob on mercenary use

Thank you in advance for some noob help here. I am level 107(and it amazes me that I can be this level and still clueless). I am really just working on the MQ and got to hapter 7 and am battling Guignol. Since I didnt have enough MP, I brought in a friend Merc. Together, we defeated Guignol. But I am confused. I received hardly any exp points( only 70 I believe, which I am completely ok with and understand) but then nothing happened. Guignol falls down but then no cut scene, no change in quest for the MQ, just still in that room as if I never beat the monster.

Is this normal? Not sure what I am suppose to do next to progress the MQ?

that's where you find out where to go next.

 

No it wasnt that. It told me where to go next but without the cut scene, no excalmation point would appear in the next section. It really was a matter of having to go back to the previous boss ending and redo that whole area forcing the cut scene BEFORE Guignol.

 

sounds like you got disconnected and your progress wasn't saved.
although i've never heard of this before. usually i'd get stuck on the loading screen and the scene replays on the next login.

or did you play on the pc version? then it may be a new bug.

 

I was playing on an Apple IPAD(IOS). Regardless, I got myself back but it does seem that there should be some easier way to rejoin the MQ if these things happen. Then again, if this really is a rare ocassion, then all good!
