I thought the forum could use a discussion about the best bosses, minibosses, and enemies for training your pets. Just be sure to list the enemy's name, location, level, and if possible, exp drop as well as any other notable advantages.
(Also, maybe state whether it is better for skill or level training.)

Allow me to chip in with my quick summary.
    Pet Lvls:
    • 1-40: Golden Skeleton/Minotaur/Anything you are farming
    • 40-50: Big Mask
    • 50-80: Metal Stinger/Scrader
    • 80+: ??? I would like some recommendations too (possibly Iconos?)
    Skill lvls:
    • Pova/Anything you are farming
Big shout out to Haru-chan's YouTube videos for inspiring the pet tamer in me. =D

Ur pet can have optimal exp As long as monster level has 30 lv diff with your pet.
For 80ish pet, ms and scrader. Sometimes i can farm bexiz w my pet as well :)

Thanks BlackRex, I'm aware of this 30 level range, but I notice some mobs/bosses give more exp than others. I wonder whether killing higher exp mobs/bosses has a factor on how fast the pet levels... I'll check out Bexiz later but i feel the adds could be troublesome for my setup(s).

Also for the 80-100 range (and 100-120 too), could I get some more opinions on a suitable target? Cheers! =3

Try farm minibosses that has 30 lv diff within your pet level.

I still got decent exp from big mask (lv 70) for my pet (currently lv 86). But i think MS (lv 82) gives more

I think the pet must hit before the mobs die in order to get exp :3

When you capture a pet, you can see the stats... the middle one, find the magic attack one

I want to clarify one thing. Exp can be leeched by pets. Proven by doing storms in bonedragnewt leveling(ranges lvl 1-40). Skill leveling, pet have to hit the target before it dies. More kills more exp skills.(meaning, 1 ms kill is the same as 1 normal mob kill in skill exp) When i have time i farm on the lime potum mosh pit, it's the only way my weak farm mage can farm on lime potums without getting clobbered(yup, doing aa one by one sucks but its the only way to train pet skills) most of the time i use a bow and a merc for added damage and aggro management.

Use a "gentle" pet for skill training. As long as you 2-tick the kills, it'll count the aoe kills. ^_^

(I've no ideas if this also works on "Timid" pets though..)

Wow this have been so long ago it gave me nostagalia. 2017 i think the multi aggro grind on gentle pets was the most efficient thing ever, don't quite remember it was so long ago lol.

    Update:
Assuming things haven't changed all that much, then "Timid" pets work (mostly) the same as "Gentle" pets, when they're "close-combat" types (OH, Knuck, & Staff), or, whenever things keep them closer than 4m.

(After 4m, they act like a typical "fighting" pet.)

    PS:
Things have apparently changed some, on the mechanics of "pet skill leveling", & I'm fairly new (~4mo old), so.. Idk what does & doesn't still apply.. x_x

Between the origin of this thread and today? A lot of things changed
Gentle pets got kill count fix
Pet power have cap(hence death to 10k pet)
Party nerf for pets(more party members you have more pet get nerfed attack & matk)

    Ah.

Well, is it still visible to have a sustained healing (&/or atk/matk buffing) pet?

That is, am I able to build a pet that can (mostly) replace a player's "need" to have self-healing skills (for soloing) / group healing skills, via "healing circle"?

Or, are pets actually not that useful, for overall soloing?

Tbh, my main objective, is to save sp via having a good "healing + atk buff" pet.

(I may also do a "healing + armour breaker" pet).

My vampire pet build is the best solo back driver. As it is proven by @Lenwok. Pet does all the work, all it needs is mp and occasion heal. Even as dps vit and tank ability is the first list to fill out(ded dps is zero dps). Same can be said to all pet build. If pet can't take a hit, pet is useless.

A good support pet need the ff:
Can take hits survival is a must coz downtime is a major pain
First aid as legacy or 3rd skill buff of your choice mostly it be buff skill or if you have free hands a healer(pet mp charge is a killer in certain times)
It is your choice if you add an aggro or any attack skill but it need to tank damage as it apply first aid.
No devoted pets! The nature is made for aggro eats aggro and ignores you over aggro.

    Thanks for the tips! ^_^

I'm looking to do one of these 3 setups:

    Setup 1:
    Gentle
Healing Circle + Encourage + Clear Mind + 2x randoms (hopefully 1st aid)

    Setup 2:

Timid / Justice (whichever is best)
Healing Circle + Encourage + Armour Break + 2x randoms (hopefully 1st aid & Clear Mind)

    Setup 3:

Timid / Justice (whichever is best)
Healing Circle + Encourage + Sweep + 2x randoms (hopefully 1st aid & Clear Mind)

    PS:
Not sure if I'll need worry abbot weapon-type of Setup 2 & Setup 3, but if I do, I'll likely go "bow".
    • Thoughts on weapon-type?
      • On Justice vs Timid?

Honestly im not sure, how the costly heals from a main vit stat pet (heal relies on pet matk+ur hp%) will help u in a battle. Its better imo to get first aid and the rare (for me it took ~100 good pets) phys+mag resist buff instead of unreliable 1-2k heals.
As for nature im going steady, but my pet is total support with a lot of vit (so it can buff my matk/cspd + resists + first aid) imo this is the best it can do for me.
P.S. its a black meditating potum lol
