bs and synth

i have 3chars at the moment (rollback cut away 2 of my chars) one of them is my main (atk mage) and i wanna have a synth and bs but don't know weather i hould have a combo char and another atk char or if i should have a bs and synth or just 1 of'em.
if you have any ideas on which one or another idea pls tell me.

 

you get a 4th free character slot from the main quest emblem rewards.
so you can have an alchemist, a smith and 2 other characters.

the problem with a smith/alchemy combo character is the immense cost of skill points. the character won't be able to fight well at higher levels, which makes leveling up extremely difficult.

 

yeah i know. what do i have to do to get the 4th char? its been awhile since i last got it after rollback.

 

How do I make dye ?

 

You can't make dye, certain equipment drops with dye already on it then you use Synthesize Equipment to transfer the dye to another equipment of the same type.

the NPC synthesist can do anything, but the price will increase exponentially up to 50 million spinas.
to do it yourself you need the Synthesize Equipment skill. it doesn't cost spinas but your options are limited by your alchemy profiency.

by default, synthesis is random. you put 2 items together and the result will randomly chose the appearance, stats and dye of either one.
you can 'lock' parameters such as appearance, stats or dye for a guaranteed result, but the skill itself has only 1 lock.
increasing your alchemy profiency will add another lock for every 50 levels.

2 locks (lv50 profiency) is the minimum requirement to synthesize without gamble.
if the items you use have the same appearance or dye, you don't need to lock those parameters, because it will be the same either way.
so by using duplicate apps, stats or dyes, you can guarantee all parameters of your choice with less locks.

when using more than 2 locks, the success rate will decrease. if it fails, the choices you made will be undone and it's all random again.
the upgrade skills after Synthesize Equipment will increase the success rate, but you won't need the skills for just 2 locks.

You can raise alchemy prof from 100 to 136 crafting Revita VI but after that you'll need lots of Ori ore and Ori to get from 136-200 or to wait for new recipes.
