    which one is higher?
    1. cast combo impact-CF(smite) - etc
    then release manually.

    or

    2. cast manual CF
    then release a combo impact-CF(smite) - ect

Both same but theres no point casting impact - cf for release cuz its 0mp anyway. Best in my opinion is cast manuel first time and for release use smited so u can use ranshi/reflex/moeba - cf (smited)
~and since the release is 0mp u dont need an ender for combo

2 is arguably easier to use too. The "hang time" of you being locked in one spot from having to deal time casting CF charge as smite could easily get you hit by quick moving shark fins or extremely fast AOEs where as manual cast makes those easier to dodge. It doesn't matter if you get hit when you fire it off smited in a combo because you're already done charging.

I'm pretty sure using CF as SAVE possibly ends up messing with the final damage, even if it's fired as SMITE. Plus the extra 1.5-2 seconds from the 2 skills after is asking to get hit and ruins your CF charges after.....

The first one does more damage because CF remembers the tags that were put on it during the initial cast (400mp) and ignores tags from the attack cast (0mp).

    No

The less confusing way to say it is that Crossfire remembers all negative damage modifiers, but it can only be smited once. However, the smite can be on either the initial cast, or upon the release. If you have smite on BOTH cast AND release, it will only use one.
Incidentally, don't EVER use the save tag on crossfire.

Both of the options presented result in 150% crossfire.

Other than smite tag, what buffs can be used to boost cf damage? And where best to put it?(charge or release?)

Atk buffs, Cdmg buffs, brave aura, element, all of these just need to be active when you release.
