Collateral Trading Procedure.

Hello all,

Today I was going to provide a 4L service to a random person. Since the item he/she wanted me to service was a 2s, they ask for collateral which is fine. Upon the initial trade I put up some items to serve as collateral , but I failed to see any items in their trade window. So of course I backed out of the the deal. Because I backed out, apparently I’m a newb and I bought my account -_-. From what I remember in 2016 (came back to the game in January this year) and literally being the first person to provide 3L services on this forum, the collateral trade procedure is supposed to be both sides providing an item. One to be serviced on and one the service provider provides as collateral.

selling services was always a fishy buisness.
in the past, scammers would act as seller, take your items and run away.
that's why people came up with insurance and now scammers act as customers, take your insurance/collateral/whatever and run away.

 

They're scamming the collateral trade itself. That's why refinement, statting, and 4locks require some degree of authentication. For example statters that are listed in some kind of platform are more trustworthy by far, and usually don't even require such collateral trade. The sellers put their reputation as the collateral. The buyer should be in no potition to ask for an insurance items, as the risk is actually higher for service seller as opposed to the anonymous buyers thay come and go. In-game service sellers are bad for your wallet. You need to have a way of verifying their identity in the community. I usually just ask for guildies for services, though thats also has a risk in itself. A guild with a good screening for their members to officially provide services is good to have.


Then again, 4locks have become common for most players to have. There are even some cases where a player wants to give some free locking services but unjustly accused of trying to scam instead. Such as the current level of toxicity in toram.

 

Honestly you can't really blame those who accuse them of scamming, since it does sound really fishy, and scammers are basically everywhere, you'd have to be extra careful buying or selling anything.

 

Right, though Ive read some ridiculous threads about players calling out the guy on the shout just because they suspected him with no actual evidence. That could ruin one's reputation even though they're just trying to be nice

 

This is unfortunately very common these days :l
Due to these scams and what not, many cant be trusted anymore.
As Yunan said; as the player base grew, this is the level of toxicity we face now.
Dunno why ppl feel the need to depend on such methods, even here..its not like Toram has PvP, even then, is it necessary that one needs to flex everything ._.)? or maybe such is the norm these days?

 

thats why i just ask a friend to stat or whatever for my stuff if i cannot do it myself with my own blacksmith/synthasis. i never trade shit like that with randoms even if they seem trustworthy and are on sites and stuff, never trade with randoms

 

that’s why I rather sell on cb, a guy nearly gave me a run for my money once, he made me show all my rare stuff stating that’s it’s not good enough ......I got tired of it and said get someone else but he persisted in asking for the transaction I ignored him because I don’t like wasting my time . As said before build a reputation u can use this forum, friends or guild mates who trust you to build it up. That way you won’t have to validate your reputation. Or just restrict those services to cb.
