    IMO, About Damage deal wise.
Yes, mage is indeed overpower now.
But magic skill is lack of one important damage multiplier. It's Critical.
So, when on higher level cap, when the base damage on all class get higher.
I believed on certain level cap they can surpass magic damage with benefit of critical damage.

Eh??? Base damage of atk and matk maybe different values but that doesnt mean a higher matk kicks arse on a lower atk value. Skills used play a very important part there.
Eg. Blast vs astute. some equally well equipped players can hit simliar dmg values, mage might have matk900+ and blade atk800+.
Certain specs are already on par with mage dps. Some can beat it.

Mage suffers from casting time at the moment :(.
Other class are not restricted by cast time. Blade users can exploit this futher with astutes crit buff, in combos this is really too much and kinda overpowered.
Normal astute 1st, a few hits for regen then fire of that combo with astute buff active. Things like astute/trigger slash(smite) like this will pass 20k+ alone then there's the other skills damage to add.

Crit damage might make things very crazy!
Who knows we will have to see what happens, its still early days :)

here's more of a neutral/utilitarian way of looking at this interesting topic:

Actually i dont really subscribe to the idea of a best class. more like the BEST CLASS to do a SPECIFIC TASK. i build my chars based on the things i aim to do, also based on the environment. mages are best (currently) at AOE in small tight spaces. when you are in an area that has mobs spread out, farming with bow char is better. tanks/breakers perform their roles in boss fights, esp when there arent any available. i feel that swapping out a char that does poorer in a certain environment for another gives you more choices to manage that situation. since all the 'classes' are under the same account, sharing the same user name, its not really a different 'character' per se.. its more of diff abilities you create your character to perform based on the skill and stats you select (i use the word 'class' here due to a lack of vocabulary since this game does not exactly have a class system cos you can customise your char as long as you have stats; thats really cool!!)

in fact i dont call my characters 'mage' or 'monk' or 'warrior' or 'priest'. i just call them 'AOE', 'Break', 'smith', etc base on what i use them for.
