Does Shield work with Staff?

    I was wondering if shield stats will work with Staff, or knifes and magic devices, cause i do not see my stats change once i am equipped with a shield when i am using a staff.

    If I'm not mistaken shield only raises your guard but become more useful if you have the shield skill tree. I really can't say I'm 100% sure since I'm not much of a shield user...
    Hopefully someone more experienced can answer your question ..
