Oh lol, my force blader is a 1 handed sword user with knuckles, but instead of triple kick, I use the Heavy smash and Shell break for my damage ^^ lol

Oh good. Perhaps this illuminates the possibility that I was right in my assertive renaming of the build I chose. And really cool build, I would like to see it somtime. <3

it was never a utility skill tree, it's an extension tree to the Blade Skills. Probably the dev's answer as to how a 1h can out dps a 2h.

Lol cypher, still in denial that DS is not an extension skill of the blade skill? Just wait for level 4 DS skill after 6 months. :-D
To everyone, DS skill tree is a stand alone tree like the other main weapon skill trees. It was never a utility / support skill tree / extension tree.
Again, the main reason you can use blade skills is the fact that your using a sword. And if ever that there is really an extension skill tree between DS and Blade skill, the extension would be the blade skill tree because almost all DS skill are DW exclusive.
Anyway, I understand where your coming from Cypher... 200 orbs to reset? Well thats something :p

I see, if DW is really an extension of Blade skill trees then i can't really see the use of it to 1h and 2h class. Why bother addin' a passive that's all about equipping more than 1 sword and can't use the skill unless it a duel wielding weapon ? Plus, the skill tree is a main skill in the library and not at the buff/assist like it should be as an extension though..

I don't really think it's wrong or right to call the Dual Sword skill tree as an extension of the Blade Skill tree. I admit, it is a surprise to me that Duals get a 3rd tier in the tree, but think about it from a perspective of big to small. There will be more character build types that uses Blade Skills over Dual Sword Skills. In that sense, you can call dual sword skills tree a specialist tree or an extension tree.

It remains to be seen whether or not you can call it a "standalone" skill tree. If it functions well enough without the help of Blade Skills(ahem astute ahem hard hit ahem) will you really be able to call it one imo.

PS I'm still waiting for that Spitfire(aka people who brings too guns in a fight) Skill tree. #MakeItHappen

well, everyone, with the exception of mage, would use astute if it would be possible.... don't deny it snipers!!
And hard hit is meh, most only get it cause needed for astute....
Plus I bet 50$ that if possible, snipers would also gt trigger slash.

No.. It is in all honesty a Standalone skill tree. As it was made to be. The devs realised it was weak, and brought out a tier 3 skillset. DW did not have a tier 3 skillset.
This means they designed it as a supplementary skill tree. BUT very soon after realized it was being used as a MAIN skill tree. I am sure Cypherian can Validify this theory. NOW they bring out tier 3 skills. Mage, brawler, 1h, 2h, Archer... already had tier 3 skills... Mattter of fact they have tie 4 skills. DW only had tier 2. As more nd more people showed interest the devs thought "Hmm... Perhaps we should Make it a Full skill tree." So.... As of NOW.. (Seeing as tier 3 re released in JP servers." DW is in and as of itself, a fully fledged STANDALONE skill tree. Meant to be utilized as it slf, and it slf alone.

I knew you would still backup Cypher because the both of you share the same idea about DW. I can still remember the 2 of you guys telling me that there will be no tier 3 because DS is an "extension" skill of blade skill, and that DS skills are too weak to be considered a main skill tree that is why the only way for DW to be powerful is to utilize the Blade skill tree. Well, surprise surprise. :)
Anyway, "I don't really think it's wrong or right to call the Dual Sword skill tree as an extension of the Blade Skill tree"... better not mention it as an extension of blade skill tree anymore since DS tier 3 will be out soon. It will just bring confusion to the new players who reads and follow your guides, and raise questions to you on why weren't there any "extension" skills for magic, knux, and archer, which you cannot answer directly because you don't know what asobimo plans to do in the future.

Lastly, skills in the main skill tree are all standalone because you can utilize its full potential without using any other main skill trees, making DS not just a standalone skill but an exclusive one. I'm sure you guys can create a powerful combo using only one skill tree right?? If not, then meh :p

I still Stand my ground that DS is an Extension Skill Tree to the Blade Skills. No amount of argument can make me change my mind. Yes i said that DW Skills might not get a level 3 Tier skill, it's because the future was unknown to us and that the DW Skill tree is new and not present in alpha. Yes DW is a main skill tree, but if it were to be a stand alone skill different from the Blade skill, it would have been given a separate weapon itself, not utilizing 1h on both main and sub weapon.

Yes I can make a combo from DW only, But if you are a new player, you cannot immediately use the DW skills, making you utilize the Blade Skills first then either choosing to get Blade Skills Lvl 2 or DW Skill Tree at level 30. if it was supposed to be stand alone, why is the player forced to get to Lvl 30 first before being able to get DW Skills, What "Main Skill Tree" would you use before then? Surely you wouldnt level your self up with bow skills or mage skill to level 30 then get DW Skill at that. Plus, the combos you can make with DW SKills only are so limited based on their utility. You cannot possibly make 16 unique effective combos from 4 skills.

Dont say that you can get DW Skills at start by levelling a toon to level 30 then making a new one just to get a toon to start with DW skills, but you still are not able to get DW Skills at the start, you only have 4 trees to choose from at the creation page, Magic Archer Blade or Martial Skills.

I don't really care about whether DW is or is not a utility tree or and extension of another tree. I use a full agi DW and I use hard hit. astute, and spiral air as well as twin slash and spinning slash. If I deem the new DW skills fit for my build style, I will uses them. Otherwise, I won't. I enjoy messing around with build how I like so that I think it that way. I won't get hyped for the new skills, but I also won't have low expectations for it. Simply I'll wait till they come out and use them however I like^^

If we really need to classify the tree anything, the simplest way is to call it a weapon skill tree. Mainly because you can't call it a buff tree like the other skill tree that is categorized as such in the library, where it needs a specific weapon or weapon build to work properly. (ie knight skills works better if you have shield for assault attack and a sword for Rage sword, Priest skills work better for int-based weapons, guard skills only works with remodeled armors, etc etc)

marchie, the only point I have always contested is that people keep on trying to "classifying" toram skills. I have NEVER claimed that it should be an "extension" tree. I call it a complementary tree since, that's what it does. Even with this new additional skills, there are 3 major things preventing me from seeing it otherwise:

    1. you can't get the skill tree right at the start
    2. it has strict requirements to become a Dual Sword user.(Level requirement to unlock the tree in the library? Lv70 requirement to make it complete it?)
    3. It can't function on it's own.

Guess what? All those conditions are pretty much like having a specialization... which are what buff skills really do.

The only really logical reason why the tree is categorized as a "weapon skill" is simply because you are wielding 2 main weapons. That's about it.

Even after all this, I reckon every Dual Swordsman who focus on being "swordsmen" will still have most skill points on Astute, Trigger Slash, and the passive skills. Which really proves my point, Duals Sword Skills complement Blade Skills. =.=

I guess I can share my thoughts with some of your questions.

1st: DS was launched during the Kirito hype. You know how hard it was to reach lvl 30 when the cap was still 50 right, and almost all old players were 30++ then. DS was introduced as a privilege toon to old player since it was introduced in the latter part of the game. So yep level 30 was required to raise more excitement in the game both for old and new.

2nd: Sword weapon was already existing, so why make another type of weapon when in fact it Dual sword is just a sword with another sword on the other hand? that is just the logic behind it. One thing that could have been an advantage of DW was that the options on the left sword is also in effect (which asobimo changed because they know its OP), and Asobimo is lazy,,, before level cap level 55, dunno if you noticed it, the mobs were all the same (having just different names on different maps) until golden skeleton was introduced. So yeah I can say that they were lazy to create new type of weapon for a promotional class.

3rd: 16 unique combos? Most of the players including me can live with 2-4 unique set of combos. Thank you :)

4th: well you beat me to it, yep the only way to create a DW is to start with a mage class or archer and get it to 30. after all, these 2 are still more popular in parties and farming then and until now :)

Addressing number 3, i was wrong, you can make 24 Unique Combinations for combos, for 4 skill combos, and considering the first 4 skill combo you make, you can make a possible of 6 more combinations for your 3 skill combo. this my answer to what you said that you can make a full DW skill only combo. using the 4 skills: Twin Slash, Cross Parry, Spin Slash, Charging Slash.

Yet only a few of those combos made will be viable in terms of Speed of execution and Damage dealt and utility

Windslash, isn't correct to say that any "extension" (whatever you have in mind IRL or not) is suppose to "complement" the main thing? even if you're just pertaining to this game, there is no such complement skill tree because you won't be utilizing the whole skill tree anyway. complementary skill maybe, but that will just go to any skill like impact to DW / any class or QD to DW / any class, or Charge etc etc...

Anyway, I won't react to you anymore if you're saying that DW is "not" an "extension" skll tree of the Blade skill tree. At least we both agree that it is not an extension skill tree of any one. ;):D
