Gears and Key skills

    Hi guys , im trying to make pure tank aggro keeper use 1h shield , i need ur recommendation for additional gear + cheap but good xtal , have low budget. My current gear :

    Weapon : Dark general sword (boss drop) + excavated gollem
    Shield : Dark general shield (boss drop)
    Arm : Player Craft D74 maxHp7% vit7% aggro 10% + arcoiris
    Add gear: ???????
    Spec. : Dark fighter bangle + stone mercenary

    My key skill as far only ( rage sword , guardian , provoke ) + ( binding strike as dealer dmg n aggro )

    I need ur advice which add gear shud i choose : unicorn ( 25% hp 10% def) or adel cape ( 10% hp deff???% 13% aggro ) or hero scarft ( vit 5% hp 1000 aggro 10%) dont ask me to use nure mask ( with negative ailment resistance )

    And also abt skills , shud i take sanctuary , p.defense , and gloria?

    Thx hope someone can answer for me

    If you're after aggro, Adel cape and attach a grylle to it. That's a cheap solution.

    Skills wise, P. Defense. I would go for Guardian and shield strike if you're going aggro, as you'll have opportunities to guard / counter.

    I personally think Gloria / sanctuary works better with Shield Staff. Where as Shield /Sword can take advantage of 1h boss variant guard/barrier buffs.

    But from what i have read above, your build is pretty well rounded.

    You are full str? Or full vit?

    Add gear either,
    1.) Jiangshi Hat
    2.) Adel cape Drop (If your budget low)
    Theres also rose in mouth (Hp20% Aggro20%) but it was event limited only.

    Sanctuary I dont recommend if you are not full vit. Gloria too gets bonus when used by staff user its cast time is bad anyways.

    P.def on the other hand is too good of a skill to not take.
    Remember to get higher resistance > higher def.

    I use full tank full vit build , so adel cape grylle is good then ? So sactuary n gloria isnt good to take for now? Ok thanks so much , i still lv 40 rn ill go lv up to get p.deffense

    Almost forget 10% hp with 98% aggro better than 25% extra hp with only 85% aggro?

    The difference between 25% and 10% hp, for the gains in aggro is preference. Fractional damage types make relying purely on large hp pools redundant.

    If aggro is your priority, then I'd stay with 10%.

    Sanctuary is probably something you'll want when you have 255 Vit. I'd say stay within Knight, Shield, and Blade skill trees until you're level 70-90.

    I see , i got p.defense rn with 10/10 , pretty good skill. I still lv 72 , ill getting war cry soon for support n pull aggro too

    Shell break or quick draw for mp filler ? My mp still 700 , 900 soon if hv spina to buy aranea

    Current combo hard hit , guardian save , rage sword cons , binding strike smite , triger slash swift ,

    Let me give u pointers for full vit then.
    1.)Take sanctuary it will be helpful in combo making and aggro. Dont take gloria tho its still not good.
    4.)Use toy hammer instead of captain sword. U cant generate aggro if you cant hit.
    3.)Dont take guard strike it is useless for you and it ruins proration for party.
    4.)You need to stack more resistance. Do you have protection and aegis skill maxed? I personally dont prefer either quick draw or shell break theres better ways to recover mp. Theres better skills to take. Remember resistance is better than high hp in this game.

    For combos I would say you will need to change depending on your party. If all party members are long range and dont stay near the guardian aura then dont use it.

    Guardian combo:-
    Astute + trigger(save) + guardian(save) + sanctuary(swift) + rage sword(swift)
    Use it once only if theres no melee fighter only reuse if it runs out.

    Non guardian combo:-
    Holy fist + trigger(save) + sanctuary(save) + binding(swift) + astute(swift)
    Use this as a main combo if theres long rangers in party.

    Ideally, you'd rely on ampr (atk mp regen). Rather than shell break/quick draw. But that's a personal preference, to save on skill points to strengthen your core. As MP capacity and ampr potential is increasing with updates.

    Your combo is good, the only changes i would make is add impact, if you're planning to increase damage outputs.

    You probably don't need aranea as an xtal, as the aggro from your equipment is great. In addition, the fairy sewing kits will also potentially off set the need for micro stats.

    Impact isnt really needed for 1h as they get trigger slash but thats all about preference.
    Can you tell me your skills, what skills have you taken and how many skill points do you have?
    You need to conserve them and take the most useful skills first.

    Toy hammer 1h it gives +100crit which makes you critical 100% of the time. Critical atks never miss so no need to worry about accuracy.

    Impact decreases the cost of the next skill, while trigger slash increases motion speed. They're not relatable, unless I'm mistaken?

    Impact helps proration through magic damage, and decreases mana consumption of combos.

    Their combo that utilizes binding strike, is damage based. Impact provides an opportunity to increase damge, where the use of a buff is not necessary.

    In addition, tumble provides shield users with three interrupts, allowing for easier breaking.

    In terms of guard strike, it doesn't ruin proration of the party. It counts as physical skill damage, and benefits magic damage based parties. Probably upsets helberd and sniper builds. But, then you'd probably not need a shield tank, where a helberd is used. Other than that, sniper, 1h, helberd, 2h all ruin each other's proration 80% of the time.

    My 35k/17k 1h tempest becomes 15/7k the moment a HB / sniper begin to spam. So i don't think guard strike is going to upset a party.

    That will cover you in the short run. But don't force yourself into a corner by building around the gear available. Use gear that helps your skills and stats. You'll generate a lot of aggro with skills alone. So play around with your skills and see how well you keep the enemy's attention.

    Just because 1 of your party spams doesnt mean the class in general does it you probably havent joined proper parties if you came up with that 80% number.

    They are op doesnt mean they dont need tanks. I have tanked with my bg shield bosses like ems I am sure we wouldnt be killing as fast if I had guard strike coz my guard rate is 70%+

    About impact for tanks it has the same use as trigger that is to boost the motion speed of guardian and sanc which would be difficult otherwise.
    For prorating its better to take tempest it has magic prorate too but a much larger radius so good aggro wise as well.
    Yeah it allows you to tumble but tell me how many bosses like being tumbled aside from mini bosses?
    Also care to explain how a full vit chars combo is damage based?

    So in short impact has utility and can be taken if sp is left but guard strike? Just no theres not a single benifit for vit tanks from it.

    No, been enough parties to know what happens. Hardly any parties, unless you're all organizing before hand are balanced between physical / magic and normal. There are more physical skill classes / abilities than magic. 80% is a general esitmate, don't lose sleep over it.

    You use a bowgun and a shield? Ok, not the most practical. But hey, whatever. Sounds like you found your niche, can't say I've seen any practical benefits in it. Probably explains why you're confused about how trigger slash and impact work.

    Impact doesn't increase motion speed. Read the skills description, trigger slash increases motion speed. They have descriptions for the skills now. Takes a few seconds to read them. Completely different uses, like, do confuse the fridge with the oven? Considered glasses?

    The rest of what you have written, makes little sense. You don't need many magic hits to alter proration, and this differs between enemies. The point is, it's an effective way to boost damage without filling in a combo with fast buffs.

    Tumble can be canceled out from skills using steeplejack talisman, or demi knife for flinch if a dagger user. So you can avoid boss counters to interrupts. But if you want to make a whole new build to get around a small issue, be my guest. I prefer to play smarter, not harder.

    If you actually took the time to read their combo, you would have noticed they had a binding stike combo with smite. Obviously to deal damage, as they stated. So, as a constructive person, I provided a way to approach their choice.

    Regardless of whether they are full or partially vit. If they want to have a damage combo, it's up to them. As they have their reasons. I'm not promoting full vit to use damage combos.

    They wanted to make something versatile, and get constructive feed back. You might learn something from treating people nicely, rather than walking all over their build.

    I am not walking over her build at all I am just explaining how bad some skill can be when taken by a tank, just counter arguing your advice about guard strike.

    I have made all 4 tanks bg shield, 1h shield, Knux shield and staff shield. Bg shield has the highest aggro (yes higher than 1h) when theres a single target and also being long range it is the most versatile at avoiding aoes and also do ton of damage, its the most practical semi tank. Its niche coz people dont try out different stuff to realize it.

    On my knux shield and staff shield tank I use impact as a means to reduce combo cost of guardian and sanctuary so that I can swift it with low mp save.
    Sonic + war cry(save) + impact(cons) + guardian(swift)
    This is the only best use of impact aside from magic prorate which tempest does well enough and with less skill points.
    I am not confusing trigger and impact its you that was confusing their uses :)
    Do research next time?
