Hi! Soooo, I just installed the game and really wanted to try the Katana. I just have a few question and if you want to add things, please do so. TYIA

1.) Is Katana an "okay" starting class?
2.) Which stats do I need to max for this build to work?
3.) Any beginning item/s I should get for an early game power spike?

That is all. Thank you! :)

according to the character creation screen, it has "normal" difficulty.
DEX gives the most atk and also accuracy, which is very important for physical attacks.
STR gives less atk, but increases critical damage. usually DEX is better.
some VIT is always recommended, since it raises your HP.
AGI if you like speed. if you don't, then don't use it.
INT is probably the least important, as katanas have less magic atk than other weapons. magic defense is good, but VIT is more useful for close range combatants.
check the consignment board for add gears. some high level gears sell for relative cheap prices, because they are easy drops and/or less powerful than others in the same level range.

Katana is ok, but just know that you have to be hit to deal damage if you're under lvl 150.
My katana is 255 dex 40 vit rest str
If you can find a group of friends or good mercenaries, farm a kasakiri. It comes from Cannon Golem from Suburb of Droma square. It has decent stats, like +30 crit rate, and +4% unsheathe which is quite good. It's also light element and lowers aggro, so you'll give tanks an easier time. Dont try tanking with katana if you're not full vit, you'll die. Yeah it's one of the endgame maps but with good mercenaries you can kill them easily. Just go to soyfa and try to find people with a good 2h merc or a tank merc.

Thank yooouuu! A follow up question regarding stats. So, would it be okay to max dex even before trying to put anything on other stats? And what about skills? Thanks again! Will look for the boards and the equipment that you said.

Thank you! Will probably do that after I hit a higher level as I'm only level 13 ATM. Hahaha.

It really depends on your current equipment, I also use a katana character as my main, I'm currently lvl 157 and my stats are 255 dex 30 vit and the rest on str, since katana is a close range melee character you will get hit often, so having enough hp is important, as for the skills, once you get to lvl 70 you can use "Zantei setetsu" which if you successfully time it to parry the boss' attack you will receive 0 damage and unleash a powerful counter on the boss, and also "hasso happa" which is an AOE attack that also has powerful damage and is very useful against bosses that has his own minions around him as it can hit multiple enemies at once, both of these skills will be your main damage dealers until you reach lvl 150, also if you search around in the forums for newbie guides you will find alot of useful tips, one of these tips are: DO NOT USE your Book of oblivion, revive droplets, and potions that will be gifted to you early on in the game, these items are actually rare and can only be bought using real money (or your limited orbs)from the orbshop, use them wisely. Also if you want to progress in the game faster, try to join a guild, there are several guilds here in the forums that also welcomes newbies and try to help them(my guild included, if you're interested you can try joining us, it's called "Angry kittens":)), you can gain a lot of advantages from joining a guild, like hiring guild mercenaries for free to fight with you and some guild bonuses, you can also ask your guild members to help you with main quest to defeat a hard boss or some other advice, who knows, they might also be kind enough to give you some very useful stuff for free;)

Oh. Okay okay. So it would be best to invest a little bit on hit, I guess. Hahaha. Thanks again for the reply and for helping me. I'm currently level 22. Please adopt me on your guild if possible. Hahaha
