What are the best ways to protect against Venena one-hits other than avoidance? I'm level 194 and I'm still getting KOed by Venena in one attack often. Thanks!

    which atk?
    the bish slap?
    meteor?
    or the shark waves?
increasing hp is best way to avoid getting 1 hit, get food buffs like hp, resist food
increase physical resist for bish slap
    increase magic resist for waves
pray to pino that meteor blue aoe doesn't appear under you during long combo or cast

You just need some hp (like 9k+) for any attack except blue circles and laser. If you're using things such gsw, reflex, negative resistances items, etc., this may not work.

Like what @Tempest1001 said, you need to specify which attack you are trying to guard against.

The regular stomp with red aoe is easily avoided by moving out of its range or using a corresponding skill with invincibility status; i.e Dive Impact, Meteor Break, Phantom Slash, Zantei Settetsu, P.Defense.

The bish slap consists of two parts: in and out of red aoe indicator. The first slap hits all in the aoe, the second slap hits those outside the aoe- but can still slap you even if you move in the aoe area after the first one. The solution here is going out of red aoe, then using a skill with invincibility when the grumpy Empress starts to slap again- OR, you can simply go beyond 9m which will be your safest bet. You also need to consider if the red aoe indicator is a bit closer or farther away from her. If the aoe is close to her, 9m+ is a safe place. If the aoe is farther from her, you better move your bumper out of the way and estimate the distance. Experience helps a lot here.

Blue aoe on the ground are divided into two- spikes and nukes. You can easily guess which one. If you see the aoe before Venena moves, it's a spike. If you see the aoe when Venena moves, it's a nuke. Experienced tanks can cancel these. If you or your party member spam Tumble, Flinch, and Stun, you just messed with the tank's rhythm and you or your party member will surely die if they are mid combo. Conclusion, stay away from Venena at the first phase until both pillars are dead. Most melee players are bad at this. They're the main reason the nukes are triggered early. Blame their reckless shiet.

Death balls, balls or also known as meteors- I don't understand how that becomes a meteor tho- are kinda tricky. They appear without warning- NO. Venena's movements ARE the warning. A quick interrupt can fix it. But remember, if your tank has a rhythm, don't mess it. A sudden flinch or tumble from a random member is a no-no throughout the fight if you want a clean victory. A stun is allowable perhaps, but that will change the rhythm, tho not so disruptive compared to random flinch and tumble. If I am the one tanking, I watch them die when that happens. Yeah, I love seeing their dead pathetic bodies on the palace floor. Another thing to know is they seem to target cowa- I mean low aggro people. I haven't really paid much attention, since it's not a threat into my eyes. My longest combo is 2-3 skills.

Wind blades as I call them, or blades resembling the sharks are easily avoidable. IF YOU HAVE THE AGGRO, DON'T DUCKING GET NEAR THE PILLAR. The pillar range is 18m. Stay away or stay dead.

Pillar normal attack spam is unavoidable. Use invincibility skills. Again, this targets the one with aggro.

Pillar's straight line aoe is easily avoidable. Don't group up and stay away from others like they have serious disease. Don't even dare going behind someone or letting someone go behind you. You're dead before you know it.

Venena's laser targets the one with biggest aggro. Stay mid or watch people die if you have aggro.

Venena's wind blades targets the sides. The laser targets the space in the middle but, there's a small space between those two areas. That's the safe zone, or use invincibility skills.

    Trivia:
You can send Cross Fire to the pillars even beyond 24m. Target the nearest balls or pillar, adjust your angle and line of sight, light up the bastards.
If the aggro holder happens to be a cf user in case the tank dies, stay mid near venena, around 9-10m. Let the ball coenubia come. You can send your CF to other pillars even if you're far.

Try to get your maxhp above 10k
Ref your stuff too to reduce dmg (B is enough, except wep)

    venena...

i have 3000 hp using 3 stk gsw and i barely die at venena...

i probably wont die that easily even if i have lower hp.

you just need to learn the patterns good enough, venena has so many safe zones.

i tend to die less when i use my archer, i usually try to stick with super short combos. i tend to die more w/my 2h cuz i get reckless n don't see the aoes in time xD

Meteors are triggered because players are dumb, when u attack main boss while pillars are active it happens that’s for both phases, but stupid dps wanna get attack and rush locked venenna hoping it unlocks before attack comes. As for slap and double ball attacks, the 1st attack is wimpy the second is the killer , however the first ball flinches you so u can’t avoid the 2nd so best get back step and avoid it all together. Now for the slap yes the second one hits outside the aoe but it also misses within it as well so if u don’t get knock back outside of the red zone you’re fine again best to keep your distance. Now don’t blame the tank because they didn’t interrupt the skills because careless dps like sc spammers spam interrupt and thus leaving the tank with no options. For close range the barricade on either side are good places to be they block the shark fins if you’re positioned correctly, so u just need to practice attacking there. Also stay out of the floating balls way even if tank has aggro they can randomly attack persons or pets in their way, I have seen that happen. And in general u need 8-9k hp to live even with gsw, that and refined armor and additional gear.

Honestly, I am really having trouble with this boss when I am playing as a HB.
Is Meteors the move that the pillers makes thats shoots lasers in all directions?
When I am killing the pillers, I keep getting waxed by this move.

    nvm: Question was answered.
