So the justice and sly natures avoid both AoE and Single target attacks. I know avoiding AoE is important, but what is a "single target attack?" The only single target attacks that come to mind are auto attacks, which are only a problem if the enemy is targetting you.

I think I read that "single target" means aoe centered on the boss, and "aoe" means aoe that is centered on a party member

Strange, but it's what I remember reading :V

So then aoe avoiding seems unhelpful as long as i don't stand near my pet.

Pet nature preference is up to you. The nature of justice, sly, sturdy and steady is mostly known as the top 4 natures that avoid aoe. Specially when not getting hit means more survivability for the pet and not you in general. Some prefer other natures and have the pet learn the passive skill "hide" to reduce the damage taken by the pet. Don't get me wrong, even the said top 4 do get hit and die. Aoe avoidance does not mean immortality. It just means that they have a higher survivability as a battle pet than most natures. If you just prefer a pet that support and heal you, timid and gentle is the best support the system can provide since they never attack and keep well away from anything. They still die tho if they get hit by any rouge aoe.
