Looking for advice on how to become a tank.

I wanted to try making a bowgun tank.
How do I become one?
What exactly do I need?
Gear skills etc
How to be a proper tank.
I want to learn

 

get a shield, use Guardian.
use Provoke to retaliate aggro-switch.
have some aggro% stats on your equipment.
be able to defend yourself.

divert attacks. this must be done manually.
"line" and "bullet" attacks will hit everything in their path, so make sure to position yourself in a way that doesn't direct those attacks towards party members.

and one last thing:

A quick combo with good aggro if you don't want to get provoke.

Diverting attack is good. I also wish guard and pdef can actually save those people behind. It'll be awesome if its possible.

Attack UP (VIT)?
there's One-Eye Mask (also add), Piton weapons (staff or knuckle), Oni Garb (armor) and... well, that's all i can remember. the others increase matk.
