Mage for dummies.

So when using mage skills whenever i use impact then finale i always get hit before cast is done. Sometimes resulting in flinch... What to do?

 

Learn the timing. You can swift finale, use mirage evasion, use interrupt as well or if you're fighting mobs you can do wall > impact(cons) > finale(swift/smite) > ender. ^_^

 

And stay away from boss/mini boss, the range for finale is 12m, you avoid half the aoe/atks by staying ranged, rest? As is mentioned above, take mirage evasion and learn to time atks~

 

Mirage Evasion is so beautiful. It's a must for mages.

Learn the timing when it is safe to cast finale. You gonna love that lv 10 mirage evasion.

Then you know that the boss moves a bit, and your finale missed. So you learn to time your finale to hit the boss while keeping yourself safe.

And you learn that you didn't have time for that, and the boss already dead before you cast a finale, then get kicked out of party for "not contributing enough".

Finally you raged quit as a finale user.

Ok, I'll just put in some tips for solo mages.

1) They start 'soloing' efficiently after lv180 when access to mirage evasion is granted.

2) Mages only really need finale and nothing else. Wasting time casting other skills actually slows down your dps, even if the other skills are guarenteed to hit via auto aiming, the off chance that finale hits makes up for its slowness.

3) Use shield sub weapon and set guard to auto mode. You very rarely or if ever, will manual guard.

4) Cast finale at close range if the time between boss attacks is large enough and the boss isn't a self centered AoE spammer or get a tank merc and keep bless up with some occasional heals. Casting finale at close range means you can time mirage evasion dodge in between the boss attacks.

5) Cast finale at long range if the boss is stupid slow and is affected by stop. You can do this once a minute with magic lances.

6) Sub weapon skills serve no purpose before impact > Finale, Finale's damage is very high, using sub weapons for skill diversity does nothing at all other than waste your skill points. Just go for more support skills to buff damage or defenses.

7) Your only combo needs to be Impact > Finale. Nothing else matters.

tl;dr? Impact > Finale.

 

A dagger sub can help in Using Shadowalk and that is useful when there's no place to Mirage evade.
