    This is the most basic run down of what critical rate is and why it is important for non-magic users.
    There are of course a lot more details that you can find by researching on the interweb. Embrace Google my friend.

    What is critical hit?
    When you hit a monster with normal attack or skill, you'll see either a white or yellow number pop up. The yellow numbers are critical hits (or graze, more on this later), and they are higher value than the white number damages by your critical damage amount.

    Some basic things to know about critical hits:
    1) A critical hit never misses, if your critical rate is 100% or more, then you never have to see your op dps move go to waste! (unless evasion)

    2) Magic never crits, but it will never be missed or evaded. However, it can be guarded (deal less damage in that case).

    3) Default critical rate is 25 (or 25%), this is part of your base crit rate without any added stats, skills, or equipment. CRT, the personal stat, adds 1% to base crit rate every 3.4 points. (255 CRT = 75% added to base)

    4) Default critical damage is 150%, meaning your critical hits deal 1.5 times more damage than your normal (white) damage. STR will boost your critical damage by 1% every 5 points.

    5) Equipment with critical stats do not boost your character's atk ~~but~~ it will boost your damage output!

    Miss / Evade / Critical / Graze
    Miss - failing to deal damage due to low crit rate, low accuracy (HIT)
    Evasion - failing to deal damage due to monster's high dodge rate
    Critical - it's a hit!
    Graze - less op but still critical, often due to monster's high dodge rate

    Calculating Critical Rate (CR for short)
    CR = base + equipment stats + skills
    base = 25 + CRT / 3.4 (the personal stat)
    equipment stats = crit stats on armor / weapons / additional gear / xtals
    skills = critical up, special cases such as meikyo shisui for temporary boost

    Lets say I have 68 CRT, using weapon and armor both with crit +16 and crit +16%, have level 10 Critical Up (+5 crit), and nothing else with crit stats.
    Note: crit +16% is adding on 16% of base CR

    base = (25 + 68/3.4) = 25 + 20 = 45
    CR = 45 + 16 * 2 + (45 * 0.16) *2 +5 = 96.4 --> pretty good!

    If you want to find out how many points to put on CRT for, say, a 100% crit build, simply replace CR with 100 and work backwards with the equation. Also take note of what skills you are using that has temporary critical boosts that you can work into your combo.

    Critical Resistant Bosses
    So Toram got jealous of people being OP and crit-hitting all the time, so they introduced bosses with critical resist abilities from Gwaimol and after (but not Venena).
    For example, Ornlarf has a crit resist of -1/4 of your CR

    Thank you for the explanation, but how about the computation of critical damage and critical damage %?

    Critical Resist? really? that's new to me :O (returning player)
    Oh dear Aso.... isn't mage strong enough already and why you keep nerfing physical with graze and now Crit resist -.-"

    not really a nerf, but rather a balance for critical stats and skills.
    if you don't need MNT or LUK, you choose CRT. even if you don't use gear with crit stats, you will have at least 1 skill with increased critical rate.
    in the future, critical rate will easyly exceed 100, but without any effect. so they added critical resistance to make over-100 crit useful.
    :p

    It's a nerf for physical users. It's already annoying enough having to deal with graze, now phys users have an even harder time critting, too. This is what makes magic so strong in toram, they keep rolling out things like crit resist and graze and that stuff just doesn't mean a thing to magic users. You can say it's balance, but at this point in the game, finale is already stronger than any other skill, and crit resist doesn't help with that.

    dopr.net mentioned that there's a CRT stat calculation problem on Android, and to get results, one's gotta put points in multiples of 17 on top of the 1 point that's already there when you unlock it, like 18, 35, 52, 69....?

    Agree with Alzy, there’s oppotunity cost, instead adding crit exceed 100, we can just change our equipment to cdmg or attack instead, but Aso force us to add more crit.

    Yes gives all boss at least 30% magic evasion and let mages cry, magic finale evaded >.>

    Trice!
    Hi,

    What is the CR = 45 + 16 * 2 + (45 * 0.16) *2 +5 = 96.4 --> pretty good!

    "*2" represent in this formula?

    I looked at the Chapter five link you posted above, the formula is different and yields a different #.

    this is what Crit I have from Gear/stats/base stats.
    Gear:
    Flat
    10 + 12
    Rate
    3%

    25 in Crit Stat
    Skill Crit UP maxed +5

    Your Formula : 87.98%
    Chapter five formula : 56.36%

    please help Thanks!

    I think it stands for the crit rate% stats on armor and weapon. Which is still kind of wrong because you're supposed to add together your total critical% stats before you multiply them, although in this case the answer was still correct (96)
    Edit: I was referring to the calculation provided in this thread when calculating the correct answer, not the one provided by the poster I quoted

    My question is a bit off topic here but still connected somehow, what is the highest dodge rate of monster we can find in the game & how much hit we need to avoid the graze of our crits? If there is a wiki for monster's stats I'll be glad to have it but I can't find one. I know that zahhak machina has the highest def in the game so far but I have no idea when it comes to dodge rate & other stats of monsters

    We haven't tested yet, because those values are nearly impossible to test with the current resources we have.

    Trust me friend, most people fail to understand my madness. But you're the first to not get that formula it seems. Let me walk you through it, it's quite simple really ^_^

    This is the general formula, critical rate is a summation of all critical rate values from these categories (base crit value, equipment stats, skills
    CR = base + equipment stats + skills

    Now going into details for each category:
    base
    = 25 + CRT / 3.4 (the personal stat)
    equipment stats = crit stats on armor / weapons / additional gear / xtals
    skills = Critical Up, special cases such as meikyo shisui for temporary boost

    base is your character's base critical rate, which is comprised of 25 (by default) and CRT
    equipment stats is the critical + or +% stat on every piece of equipment your character wears
    skills mean that some skills like Astute, Critical Up, Meikyo Shisui, they have critical rate boost attributes, if you use these skills then it would be beneficial to take these into account.

    I hope that cleared it up for you.

    Well based on this it confirmed what I experienced, 100 crt isn’t the same as 100% crt. Imo give me 100 crt any day since practically no one trains crt personal stat anymore. Also u need to update your first post I think, magic can crt. Just saying otherwise it’s oretty informative.

    Just making sure I understood what you mean by 100 vs. 100% crit: A character having 100% critical rate is not the same as an equipment having a +100% critical rate stat. The +15/16/etc. critical rate on equipment is technically +15% of flat critical rate to the character's total critical rate, but the % sign is excluded to avoid confusion with the +15/16/etc.% stat, which has to do with adding a percentage of the character's base crit rate.

    And yes you are absolutely right, I forgot that magic can crit now and it's been a long time since I reviewed or updated my content. I will look into how to make this guide better. Thank you!!

    Default cdmg=150%
    Cdmg from str=0.2% per pts
    Flat cdmg on gears=flat cdmg% on damage calculation
    Cdmg% on gears=%of cdmg based on your base cdmg+cdmg from str
