Dunno but I feel like when people hear the word paladin, we think of a semi tank (or tank)-ish build with some supporting skills.

Which isn't the reality for those so-called "paladin" builds going around. Building it as a glassy DPS with little to no survivability, heavily relying on Shield Cannon for ""DPS"". Can't even semi tank when needed, I assume. Very paladin indeed.
It's funny how people claim they've done this and that amazing stuff but they do it with full item buffs, full 2s, etc.

And ye people will copy anything that deals them BIG DAMAGE NUMBERS. DAMAGE IS EVERYTHING!!!! Even if it means dying for them lmao

Met some paladins in venena, they died, and as a bow, aggro was on me.
Aladdin and the magic lamp. I believe some not all of these paladins are really just perfect defense spammer in disguise.

I made a tank guide a while ago about/building a paladin. And I currently have the improved version of that leveling up. It’s Str/Vit and works rather well.

What you’re seeing is...Kirito lovers finding something “else”.

I once had a Str/Vit 1h-Shield build. I didnt consider it as paladin tho, since I didnt take aegis protection and guardian, or any supportive skills like recovery or heal, in fact, I always have Rampage on, which poofs my def and mdef to 0. Its more like an off-tank/dps dat spams 250k - 300k binding strike dmg while building aggro purely with it. And tbh the original idea was to build a survivalist dps, if yall asked why not a 2hs instead, I've been a 2hs the whole year, I need somethin new....
Guess I should call it Gladiator build, lol.

As for my perspective, Paladins can be dps, but it will still more into tank/support oriented, while Gladiators are quite the opposite, despite they both has around the same lvl of thiccness, Gladiators are more into DPS/Survival oriented, self survival.

Everytime Im on a pt I always warned Im not a tank, just in case sudden aggro switch happens. Sad that sometimes (well, most of the time) they didnt listen, spams uber-high aggro dps skills without any effort to keep their aggro low as possible, and keeps yellin at me... and leaves the pt while saying 'noob tank' as their parting words... *facepalm* (duh I did told em I aint a tank *sob*).

Note: I stopped this build cuz Im not longer have my Proto.... Tho I still have 2 Thunder Axes.... should I make it once again?

I think to avoid confusion, its better to be straightforward, lets say 1h/ohs +shield dps. I think people who used "paladin" word maybe lazy to write "1h shield dps" . I think its better split the category into three which are dps, tank and support. Its more easy and friendly to use.

Paladin term in toram is slowly being molded to differentiate a 1h shield dps from a tank, though in time, devs on a similar pace, are slapping tank and dps role together. ^_^

I kinda agree here even though I think with the right use of pdef and i-frames you can tank a lot even with str>dex. I used to have a 1h shield dps with pdef, meteor strike and about 12k hp. Often enough my party wouldn't have a tank so I jumped into this role quite often and it worked pretty well.

    From what l guess?
Paladin (as stated by MANY before) can be a mix of dps/tank build..
Dealing decent dmg in less time, yet surviving with necessary skill set if they have to face the boss hear on,
So in that case, l guess Paladin will have Str>Vit build :l
Or....maybe a tank that can deal ‘good’ dmg?
What is expected of a paladin is to also be a good tank aswell :l

It mostly depends on what kind of knowledge ppl have on such terms :3
But the general rule in our ‘newer’ community is:
Step.1) Naming the build is VERY imp xD
    Step. 2)
    Build with dagger? Assassin
Build with shield? Paladin (or HAS TO BE A tank just cuz we see a shield)
Build with katana? Must be named samurai x3 (main or sub)
    Step. 3)
Knuckle builds? Kick :/ ( no offence to anyone x3 have a knuckle build myself)
    Mage? Only good to farm
    Hlb/DW/2h- Meteor-ers? GET THEM!

My tank uses a sword to cast magic to deal damage to enemies and have healing skills that could heal and revive others. Seems more paladin-like to me.

Gladiator seems like a suitable name for a meteor breaker based build with str dex. While the STR-VIT build with binding strike is more like a "knight" to me. Yea they can deal damage and quite sturdy, but more of an all rounder soldier, instead of being able to provide high supports or dealing high damage.

no. the classic gladiator uses a 1-handed sword (Gladius) & round shield. that's where the name comes from.
the trident & net guy is a variation called piscator (fisherman).
then there's also greatshield & shortsword guy and whip & dagger guy.

Based on my experience, paladins are basically a hybrid. A balance of dps, tanking and party support (basically tanking first, party support and sub healer 2nd and dps on the 3rd role that is boosted by light element) well that is just based on the fantasy theme i came across so far.

you can call it a Halberdier, which refers to the troops deployed to counter mounted combatants. this is where the Halberd weapon originates from.
or if you want it to be more fantasy-like, Dragoon or Dragon Knight is applicable.

as for Paladins, it strongly depends on what you use as the source of your build names.
while many game paladins use swords, there are also those that wield maces, which corresponds to staves in toram.
this gives a great boost to priest skills as well.
the difference between the mace paladin and the priest is metal armor vs robes and the use of bludgeoning attacks.

2h swords with VIT and Sanctuary (and heal) could also be paladins.
likewise, the same setup can be a knight when using less support and more aggro (knight) skills.

"wielding holy power" is just a matter of weapon element, and in this regard Buster Blade is very much Divine Smite.

There are lots of version of 1h+shield gladiators, the only one i know is murmillo (megiston is a prime example of a murmillo)

As for the gladiator with net and spear/dagger its called retiarius
