    !! IMPORTANT !!
I will no longer update this guide here. New version of Pet Guide is stored at my website for easier layouting and maintenance
    A. OVERVIEW
Pet system let us tame monsters and make them our companion in party. To tame a monster, we need to learn Taming skill. Every monster has different base time limit for capturing. Upon failure, the cage might break and you lose it. You can only tame monster that is weaker than you (lower level). Not every monster available to tame. If it says "Unavailable target", means that monster cannot be tamed. If it says "Doesn't meet the condition", means your char level is too low for it. Tamed monster starts at level 1, and can be leveled up to its level cap. Each monster also has a stat growth potential (explained later).

    B. SKILL
There are two types of skills, those for taming and those for assist pet in battle. Your stat doesn't affect taming skill, so you can use this skill on any char that has spare SP. Important skills are Taming, Skillful Capture, and Careful Capture (total 30 SP). However capturing time limit is very tight without adding some Capture Technique, so it's better to invest at least 10 SP on it. If you use high level char, the maximum level limit bonus of Capture Technique doesn't really matter.

    1. Taming (300 MP)
Active skill used for taming a pet. Each level of this skill adding the time limit and chance of not breaking the cage.
Lv 1-5 each +1 sec / +10% chance of not breaking the cage
Lv 6-10 each +1 sec / +10% change of not breaking the cage

    2. Capture Technique I & Capture Technique II
Passive skill that adds time limit and maximum level of monster to be captured.
    Addition of time:
    Lv 1-5 each +1 sec
    Lv 6-10 each +2 sec
Addition of maximum level of monster:
    Lv 1-2 adds +1
    Lv 3-4 adds +2
    Lv 5-6 adds +3
    Lv 7-8 adds +4
    Lv 9-10 adds +5
So when both skills maxed, maximum level is +10.

    3. Skillful Capture
Passive skill that gives the possibility of increasing the level cap of your tamed monster. Level cap is random between the monster's base level+0 up to +10.
    Each level adding +1 level*
*At level 10, all my captured monster have a minimum +5 bonus and maximum +10 bonus, so it seems every 2 level of this skill adding +1 to the minimum level bonus.

    4. Careful Capture
Passive skill that gives the possibility of increasing the tamed monster's growth potential.

    5. Pet Heal (100 MP)
Active Skill to heal your pet's HP. Each level heals 102.5 HP plus a little bonus from weapon, so at level 10 heals 1025+bonus. Weapon bonus is negligible, for example when using staff, it is +15 regardless of INT/MATK, and when using knuckle it is +0 regardless of INT/MATK.

    6. Pet MP Charge (300 MP)
Active Skill to heal your pet's MP. Each level heals 100 MP, so it heals 1000 MP by level 10.

    C. HOW TO ACQUIRE A PET

    1. Tamed Monster
To tame a monster in field, first weaken it as much as you can. The lower the HP, the easier it is to capture. After you get to about 5-10% HP, cast "Taming" skill and watch the green bar filled up. Do not kill the monster! You can just run in circle or attack other monster while waiting. If the green bar filled up within time limit, the monster is captured. A pet acquired by this method will have a maximum +10 level cap of its original level. The pet's element will follow the original monster's element.

    2. Stray Monster in Land
Another way to get pet is from your field. A stray monster will randomly comes to your land and you can feed them a small pet food (gives 5% affinity when stray is "normal", or 10% when it is "hungry"). This monster will become your pet once its affinity reached 35%, so the fastest you can catch a stray is by feeding it 3 times within 20 hours: 0% -> 10%(first time) -> 20%(wait 8 hours) ->30%(wait 8 hours) -> 35%(wait 4 hours).

Pet acquired by this method can have a higher level cap, that is based on your character's highest level. Level is always a multiply of 10, so if your highest level is 85, your stray monster level is level 80. If you already have a capped character (120 right now), then your stray monster is level 120. For this reason, stray monster can be way more powerful than the tamed one, but it's very hard to get a good one.

If you feed the stray monster, it will stay in your land until it becomes your pet, or it is released. If you don't feed it, another type of stray monster can come to your land. Every hour has different monster, i.e. if at 7am a Kijimu visits your land, but not fed, at 8am you will have another kind of monster coming to visit. So if you want a specific pet, you have to check back every hour. Monster kind coming to land is same for everyone, so if you find a Kijimu, all other players also will find a Kijimu at that hour.

    Known stray monsters are:
    • Goblin - Fire
    • Frosch - Water
    • Colon - Earth
    • Shell Mask - Earth
    • Pico - Wind
    • Coryn - Light
    • Kijimu - Light
    • Hound - Neutral
    • Torpo - Neutral
    • Raffy - Neutral
    • Wooly - Neutral
    • Vanilla Potum - Neutral
    D. HOW TO USE PET
    [IMG]
Captured monster goes into your bag as a filled cage. This item is trade able and sell able to other player. The item's description shows the pet's data as shown in the picture. However, the pet's element is not shown in here.

To use the pet, go to your land (Menu > Logout > Go to Your Land) and choose "Pet Management" menu. Choose "Let Pets Out" and choose your desired pet. Once let out, it cannot be put back into a cage for sell. However, you can hibernate pets that is not in use. The amount of active pet that can roam around in your land depends on your land's size. The smallest land can hold 2 pets, the largest one can hold 5 pets. Active pets can be called for party and can get hungry, while those in hibernation cannot. In the beginning, you are given 5 hibernation slots. This storage can be upgraded up to 100 slots by buying using spina/orb. First additional slot cost 10k, second slot cost 20k, and so on.

    1. Weapon
There are 7 types of weapons available for pet (all except Halberd). This has nothing to do with your char's weapon. The pet's weapon affects its status (ATK, MATK, ASPD) like they do to our char. So for example, a Bogwun pet should have DEX stat to get good ATK, Knuckle pet should have AGI stat to get good ATK.

    2. Feeding
Feeding pet gives stamina and affection to it, as well as gives a random timed bonus.
    - Mini Pet Food : 10% Affinity, 10 Stamina *Mini Pet Food doesn't give any timed bonus
    - Normal Pet Food : 20% Affinity, 60 Stamina
    - Stamina Pet Food : 10% Affinity, 100 Stamina
    - Delicious Pet Food : 40% Affinity, 30 Stamina
    - High Grade Pet Food : 40% Affinity, 100 Stamina
After feeding, the pet will become "Stuffed" and cannot eat anymore. After 4 hours, it becomes "Normal" and can eat again (thus getting a new timed bonus), but only gains half of the affinity & stamina. After 8 hours, it becomes "Hungry".

    Known bonus after feeding:
    • Nature Bonus +10% (no idea what is this)
    • Nature Bonus +30% (no idea what is this)
    • Discipline Success +10%
    • Discipline Success +30%
    • Discipline Success +50%
    • EXP Gain +10%
    • EXP Gain +30%
    3. Growth Potential
Each pet has a growth potential depending on its Type. Max level of Careful Capture adds a random value (0-10) to each stat's growth potential. This potential affects how your pet gains stat when leveled up.
These are the basic growth of each type (before adding Careful Capture skill bonus)
    - Ordinary : all stat 40
    - Skill Boost : all stat 50
    - All Rounder : all stat 60
    - Genius : all stat 80
    - Physical Attack : str 120, int 10, vit 40, agi 80, dex 50
    - Magic Attack : str 10, int 120, vit 40, agi 60, dex 70
    - Dodge : str 40, int 40, vit 20, agi 120, dex 80
    - Accurate : str 40, int 40, vit 40, agi 60, dex 120
    - Physical Defense : str 60, int 30, vit 110, agi 50, dex 50
    - Magic Defense : str 30, int 70, vit 80, agi 50, dex 70

    4. Training
When a pet first let out to your land, it cannot be used yet. It started at Discipline 0% and this needs to be raised to 100% so that it can be used. Discipline can be raised through various training (Pet Management > Pet Info > Choose a pet > Train > Discipline). Stat training each affects the stat's growth rate, while Skill Practice is for getting pet's skill. Each training usually raise discipline by 2%, but at some rare occasion only 1% (even when failed). When reaching 100%, you cannot train your pet anymore, thus the stat growth is fixed at this point.

Training consumes stamina. The amount of stamina used depends of the pet's Nature. If your pet's stamina drops below 0, it becomes groggy and cannot eat anymore. The only way to heals it is using Life Potion from orb shop. When the pet becomes groggy, it's affinity reduces. Affinity affects how your pet behaves in battle. When affinity is 0%, the pet will never cast a skill. To raise affinity, feed them regularly.

The stamina's exact value cannot be seen, but there are 5 icons to indicate the amount of stamina:

Details of each training are as follows:
    - Stat Training Easy : success rate 80%, adds +2 stat when succed, +1 when failed
    - Stat Training Hard : success rate 60%, adds +3 stat when succeed, +0 when failed
    - Stat Training Professional : success rate 70%, adds +15 stat when succeed, +10 when failed, uses 9%-10% discipline, pays 1 Orb
    - Skill Practice Lv1 : success rate 100%, skill of your choice is learned (level 1-5 random)
    - Skill Practive Lv2 : succes rate 50%, random skill that is next to the first skill is learned (level 1-5 random)
    - Skill Practice Lv3 : success rate 25%, random skill that is next to the second skill is learned (level 1-5 random)

In summary, we can do about 50x training to our pet to increase it's potential and to gain skills. Since 2nd and 3rd skills are randomly chosen, I prefer to train skills first and see if the random favors me. If it's not, release the pet and try again. Also if getting the skill failed too much, it reduces your chance of training stat. As for stat, which one better between Easy, Hard, and Professional? Calculating 50x training based their success rate :
    Easy Training
    All failed = 50 stat
    All succeed = +100 stat
    Average = 40x success(+2) + 10x failed(+1) = +90 stat
    Hard
    All failed = 0 stat
    All succeed = +150 stat
    Average = 30x success(+3) + 20x failed(+0) = +90 stat
Proffesional (10x training only because it cost more discipline %)
    All failed = +100 stat
    All succeed = +150 stat
    Average = 7x success(+15) + 3x failed(+10) = +135 stat
TIPS: To maximize your stat gains, wait for a "Discipline Success +30%" or "Discipline Success +50%" timed bonus.

Example of fully trained pet is as follows:

    5. Pet Skill
There are 25 pet skills arranged in a 5x5 grid. The 1st skill training used to learn one of the skills in the middle (green), so these skills are 100% chance to get. The 2nd training randomly choose one of the skills next to the 1st one. So the skills on the side (orange) only obtainable by 25% chance as the second skill. Finally, the third training randomly choose one of the skills next to the second one. So the skills on the corner (red) only obtainable by 12.5% chance as the third skill. Learned skill's level is random between 1-5, but this can be leveled up later on.

    6. Leveling Up
After discipline becomes 100%, your pet ready to be used. To use it, go to Party menu and choose "Call Pet". Your pet gets exp when it joined in your battle (i.e., cannot leech). Every level up automatically gives some stat increased based on its growth potential, and an extra +1 stat point that you can distribute freely. To see/distribute your pet's stat, go to your land, and choose Menu>Pet Management>Pet Info>Choose a pet>Details>Pet Stats. On the other menu, you can set-up how your pet behaves, like turning on/off skills, etc.

To efficiently level your pet, you have to kill mobs which level is about +10-30 above your pet. If the mob's level too far, there will be huge exp penalty, so killing lv 90 boss is not a fast way to level your level 1 pet. On each level up, there's a chance that the pet gets power up bonus (this is your pet's weapon attack).

Pet's skills has their own EXP bar, which is not shown (maybe still bugged?). Skill will level up after certain EXP gain, but it's different for each skill and also different from base level up.

    tip for tamers:
1)use stamina to Increase discipline before feeding, feeding as feeding replenishes stamina with certain pet food
2)try to learn all 3 skill or increase potential stats before 100% discipline.. idont think you can add another skill or incease its potential once it reaches 100% discipline
3)low risk takers can use easy to increase potential of pet as it gives +2 stats on success and +1 on fail
4)high risk can go of hard toincrease potential of pet as it gives +3 on success and +0 on fail
5)people who can afford orbs, for a powerful pet, you will need to use the 'professional' option.. it adds +15 instead of +2/+1 (easy) or +3/0 (hard)..

Not studying the skills yet, but It's basically similar to char build I think. For support type pet who dont attack (thus less chance of dying), use INT stat for MP and Gentle nature for more regen. For DPS type, use 2H with STR, BG with DEX, or Staff with INT
