Problems with statting equipment.

I recently started a "blacksmith" character since it seemed so useful (and because I'm broke all the time and statting is expensive >.<) and at first I thought the blacksmith proficiency was going to help with the statting (as you can see I was completely clueless!)
So, I spent a whole lot of time gathering mats and crafting equipment to raise my prof. I reached level 100 and bam, no stats xD.
I finally asked around (like any sensible person would've done!) and found that the char's level matters. I leveled mine to Lv80 and t gives +8 stats (not very useful but meh).
My problem is that when I stat, for example, -7%HP regen, the potential I get is only 15! Shouldn't it be 42?
All the negative figures give pitiful potential and I can't stat armor at all because -7% ATK on an IM7% arm just gives 7 pot (which is pretty much useless -.-").
Should you be a like lv100 to stat effectively?

BTW, my TEC points are just 70 and the rest is in STR. But all skills are invested in smithing. Does this affect anything?

need full tec to do statting efficiently ._.
I'd suggest keeping the character though, since proficiency is at level 100, and then make a separate character for statting, which you could also use for synthesis and stuff

Statting increases the amount of potential you gain back by adding negative stat which indirectly increases success rate.
My suggestion buy 5+15 orb offer going on rn to buy a reset book if you dont wanna remake char again.

 

I think Im going to keep the stats as it is because I dont wanna lose the lv100 bs prof. Thanks for the suggestion!!

 

All skill points were put in smithing. And once I had maxed each skill, I used the rest in taming. Its fine. I think Il keep this one and create another char as a statting bs.

just use a reset book on stats. and make it to Main TEC. that it will help with stating. and your prof wouldn't change as i believe there should be enough skill points left.

 

Oh I thought its just a low tech char. If its str you can just go for 2h, halberd crafting.

with that said there is second problem as well.. its depend on what items your crafting you might not get the max POT out of that items.

what kariin said it is okay for 2H only. you will need 250 STR and rest be on TEC.

 

Can I add stats to other player crafted equipment?
