Can you have/use a pet without investing any on the tamer skills?

Do you have to feed it or something? What happens if you don't?

What should I look for when checking the CB? Pet Natures? Can you see pet natures in the CB?

I just want a grind sla... companion for my luck mage and tech synth atleast until I can't grind level on mob anymore(around level 120+).

    yes, of course :)
you can get basic, but high level, pets by feeding stray pets that come to your land.
and you can buy pets, captured by others, on the market.

tamer skills are just to do the capturing yourself (like the smith and alchemy skills), and the pet heal skills are just a little extra.
you have to feed them small amounts of spina to raise their affinity.
affinity determines the pet's performance in battle. the unique stat boosts or abilities of the pet's nature are applied according to affinity.
100% affinity grants the full effect, while 50% only applies half the bonus.
if affinity is 0%, the pet will not attack.
after the pet name comes [weapon/type/nature].
when fusing pets, you can choose one of those from either pet, the other two will be selected at random.
so you usually want to have 2 out of 3 matches when selecting pets.

If this is your final goal, I don't recommend making a companion pet. Pet using player are welcome to change my mind, but heck... a combat ready pet is hard af to train!
Its much more faster to just make another character as companion, get merc, or just be a bit social and get a friend to help grinding.

Time spent on a combat pet are not worth for mere "companion to level 120", they're an ultimate weapon to help you to reach "multiple level 150".

Already have two THS user as merc and companion. They already 1 hit most of the mobs unless guard or evasion procs. Just wants the extra muscle or maybe a support pet would be good.

I wanna ask sumthing too. About the stat bonus in every fusion. Is it calculated between the parent pet or does it stack as you keep fusing? Same question on the free stat for pet. And how to get more stat per fusion as in; can a pet have a full 255 stat at level 1 right after dicipline is finished?

A full int magic pet with level10 lance is just step 1. Grinding a fusion fodder with an hp absorb skill as high as possible is step 2. And being lucky and have a heal spell(or party heal) on the fusion product is step 3. That is the format if you are an archer/pet summoner.
If you are into staves, you better opt for a physical attack pet for the sake of proration and damage.
Advantage of staves are being more beefy and having more advantage in close quarter combat and overall survivability.
Archers in the otherhand is glassy af and aggro management along with barrier gears for survival and having pet support cast speed on steroids is the basic structure.

Mhm, pet skills are only for people who want to catch the pets. To be able to "tame" it all you have to do is feed it, and train it at your land. Remember to do it according to their nature.
Nothing happens if you don't feed it. But please do. Please ;o; no pet should have to suffer!!!

Tamer skill tree have 2 main branch. Pet catching and pet support skills. You can also just buy stargems of pet heal and pet mp charge on the board and swag like summoner. Pets can just be bought on board as well, and of course stray animals will always visit your land as long as you have an open lawn. And any undesirable pet(if you are an ocd fusion-er) can be fused on a decorative pet(basically it's the 10k pet fusion but asobimo declared it a bug and capped it to 300 currently, personally i call it "pet bin" nowadays)

Question. I just started training mine.. a soda pot. His attacks are good but I have to run in legit circles because he's in outer space XD is that normal? Well I think he's getting faster now but still.

Dont expect a pet in training to tank for you. Better use a tank merc for that. Until you set it up right it wont do much but be a leech(well at least until you start working it for the 2nd stat) unless your pet nature is proactive or enthusiastic that generate good aggro for pets it cannot do tank jobs.

It would be used by synth and luk mage so physical or magic doesn't matter because I only auto attack.

Right now I bought a Manticore with Bowgun/Accuracy/Justice stats.

Do you start from scratch when you fuse a pet?

Also what pets have good Atk patterns? Is the attack pattern locked on the appearance?,

My new pet stone i made from scratch and from scraps. I pump fusion with lvl10 lance in tow and grind till 200 power. I got lucky on this fusion due to tue effect of lvl4 hp absorb and level10 lance(semi immortal tanker now with 3k hp! booyeah!) I was planning on a final leg of fusion to have lvl10 hp absorb to pair with lvl 10 lance and hoping to get lucky again and have heal. Otherwise i may need another lvl10 skill donor until i get it right.

Btw attack pattern is attached to the app of pet. Thats why i retired my pink manticore since im not satisfied on the attack pattern. And it is causing problems with aggro generation that im restricted on using any aspd or cspd boost(my combo got abbysmally long cast time and plenty) even if i use sneak attack.
    Sneak-smoke(save)-moeba(swift)-pet mp charge(cons)-meikyo(cons)-snipe(smite)-impact(cons)
    Pet heal-sneak(save)-impact(swift)
    Bless-impact(save)-pet mpcharge(swift)
These are my combos during boss runs on iconos

Can I ask what stats potential you increased during training? Also what are good Natures for Dps tanker? Might be a good partner for my support main.

I just mainly dump everything at int for damage. I only start filling vit when int start to overflow beyond 255 stat. It will be mostly trial and error since nature is not exactly everything a pet have. It may even work against you.

This is my current pet stone. Im pretty satisfied on its performance so far. What i like about this one is that it zips along when it attacks making it even evasive while attacking and mostly overshooting any aoe on the floor. Apparently due to my lousy 3g phone and cruddy isp, i am not capable of showing my pride and joy in a video. I also like when it cast magic lance, coz it becomes a magic lance and dashes towards targets! I also notice that being close range for this guy gives me so much room to move around the boss arena and basically get to a good position to shoot arrows and eat popcorn. Unlike range pets that pops up suddenly in my side and making the target charge at me while im in mid combo or lay down 2 aoe on top of my head(i only got 1k barrier from potum helm and mostly dead on the getgo)
