Should sanctuary do AoE barrier?

    Instead of the dumb damage reduction, sanctuary acts as a barrier which prevents the caster from moving and grants a set number of barrier points based on the INT and MP value of the caster. ((INT*2/100)*Max MP)

    So with 255 INT and 2K MP you get 10200 barrier points and if broken the caster gets a silence and bleed effect for time = (barrier points/1000) seconds

    Some things to change would be to prevent recasting of sanctuary when in effect or up the MP cost.

    That would suck for tanks, if you want that kind of skill, its better be a new one and not sanctuary. Sanctuary is really useful for tanks against small fractional attacks such as spike AoEs, it also increase the survivability on extreme battles that requires multitasking, such as usamasa where sanctuary offers breathing room to manage the gespectres. The barrier itself won't be useful as barriers gets used up even with the use of p.def, tanks definitely takes more than 10 k damage, be it the ones that successfully p.defended, or the damage taken by misstimed p.def. you'd need something like 50k-100k barrier to make it better than how the current sanctuary works

    Combined with guardian, party mates can also benefit from the damage reduction as it might also further reduce the damage to 10% if the damage gets to below the threshold. Its nicely designed imho, its definitely not "dumb"

    Isnt that supposed be the full definition of wall? After all wall is a barrier and not just what we have that functions as a bug repellant?

    IMO barriers are worse than even guard rate/guard power. Its like an extra vitaplus that have much longer cooldown time
    I'm assuming this barrier is the magic barrier and/or physical barrier, not a barrier in literal sense like wall

    Yeah yunan has it right, it's like the barriers we have now only this one would have an HP bar rather than just block one hit.

    Well, you got a point there. I kinda wish it work very much like cover or hide pet skill where damage is shared and mitigated between pet and owner. Instead of pet and owner, it would be caster and barrier pool.

    Btw, that pet skill really saved me a lot back then. Sadly it was lost in the current fusion generation of my pet and i really miss it. It is a great legacy skill to have for solid meat pet tanks, since it used up the pet's hp first to absorb damage before even scratching the owner's hp.

    I know you're scrapping the idea, but you may as well make it a skill only for Mages if you want it like this. Just makes Tanky mages better and leaves melee weapons at the mercy of a long range weapon's distance. It'd honestly just power creep DT Halberds, bows, and Mages. Like, why use anything else if the optimal classes to use it are long range that can use it close and far range anyway lol?

    Barrier works better for dps chars cuz it can save them from the occasional heavy hit...

    Sanctuary check occurs before guardian. If the damage dealt on you reaches 10% after guardian reduction then it wont be reduced by 90% from sanctuary.
