That's the hard part about mage.
It's to nerf mage as a whole, due to the insane damage output.

Well it's also the bad part of other players. Warriors even dps warriors can still tank better then we can but alot just don't know how to hold aggro or to even get it. Then also you have your breakers that should be breaking those real powerful aoe hits.

But it's a learning experience and lots of players are still new. Really the only time I find any problems is fighting the last two bosses with a bad tank or breaker. The rest are easy enough.

    @Sonica
Just a heads up, chain cast is quite truly trash. The bad part is future updates we need to waste five points to get the next skill. When re making mage I brought my original mages spell from 5 to 10 and noticed almost no difference.

On new mage I put five points in to it for future updates and again noticed almost no difference. From 1 to 10 takes of about a second. I tried paring up with libra to see if that does any better and again only took off about a second.

I'm starting to believe like others on the whole after 1000 speed boost you hit a slippery slope with cast or attack speed.

This is one of the interesting aspects of this game. In most other MMOs I've played mages had a distinct defensive ability.

For example, WoW mages have ice block. Immunity for I believe 5 seconds unless broken or cancelled. Maplestory, mages can take damage to their MP instead of health, skyforge mages have immense lockdown to protect themselves. LoL has an item that almost every Mage builds, Zhonyas Hourglass, 2 seconds of immunity. Unless I've overlooked something, currently mages have to depend on their party to protect them.

    Heavy armor and shields.
That's pretty much all you can do in Toram. No immunity but better than nothing.

However you sacrifice a large amount of stat development/damage to utilize those. Whereas other MMOs those abilities are part of the natural progression.

That's the weakness of mages in Toram I guess...

There might be more defensive options to come. I mean it is beta.

IMO the only spells that truly benefit from 10 points are Arrows, Lances, and Blast. It's unfortunate that we have to put points in chain, but at least it's the only truly useless skill we HAVE to put points into. I've stopped maxing wall actually since it doesn't seem to do anything extra lol.

And yeah cast speed is very overrated IMO. Sacrifice all that damage to cast 1 second faster, with 1k cspd. Toram has a lot of noobtrap stats/skills but that's the price you pay for such a highly customizable character.

I'm actually experimenting with a Magic Tool, Holy Fist "Monk" Brawler. The possibilities are endless for customization since there's no set classes in Toram

Idk it much honestly. Most of the bad attacks are aoe which we can avoid and this game has a good balance of classes.

Every class has their pro and con. I just see it as another balance mechanic.

Mage, high dps, no real Def.
Warriors can be great dps or tanks, right now they can do both but later updates that probably will not be so. Plus still not as good dps as mage.

Brawlers are fast attackers with loads of breaks just not great dps.

Archers, well I have no clue don't b play.

    Hey sonica.
I was wondering if you could explain your reasoning to putting int at 50 points for a rice farming mage?

50 INT allows for 2 hit kills on goblins with Irogeon or 1 hit kills with water staff using magic wall

Ok, got it. Also, I did some testing of my own, and a mage can reliably two-shot goblins with only 30 int total while using irogeon (base 14 atk) or a water staff (base 32 atk). I think this may be an important thing to add, because some people (like me) prefer using irogeon over water staff and I appreciate the extra 20 points added into luck instead. I mean, if I'm going to two shot at both 30 or 50 int while using irogeon, I'd rather use those extras for luck, right?

This was tested on a lvl 41 mage using the skill distribution you suggested. In addition, I specifically used an irogeon with normal base atk stat (14) and a water staff with normal base atk stat (32). Also, I used gear that did not give any mAtk or int boosts, so the only thing affecting damage was the weapon and int stat.

Your free to use this info if you want, all i ask if for the credit.

It should be noted that a water staff cannot one-shot at 30 int.

The best mage guide I've ever read.
I think magic mastery, like Combat Skills, increases MATK based on your current MATK, INT ,or LV. Not sure though.
If this is true then may be good when you have high enough level.
A good guide should be, like this one, full of informations while allows reader to choose their own path from various ways in my opinion.

    I'm glad you liked it!
And yeah I'm still running some tests on Mastery/Combat skills but grinding multiple mages to 50 gets a bit tiresome.

In the future I'll test more stat/skill combos but in the meantime I'm running tests for my swordsman guide.

I made a farming mage and want to be able to break. Got a few questions. What is the best skill for guarantee breaking? Should I go hard hit? Does that skill require a sword? Does amount of points invested in a skill guarantee a break?
