Str vs. Dex need enlightenment

Um I was recently trying out the katana so I searched for what stat to use, and found that there are so many varying opinions about str or dex. I heard str boosts crit dmg and stability but pretty prone to graze, while dex improves passive dmg and accuracy.

I tried both str and dex on two chars so why is it that dex had higher crit dmg than my str? I did also see that u can make most dmg str only with good equip but may I ask why? I know the part where because good equip give lots of crit rate and crit dmg, but shouldn't I see higher crit on str char because focused on str?

I know both my dex and str builds are so far from complete (only lvl 80 both char) but shouldnt i at least see the difference in crit damage since more str? Sorry for kinda messy post new to this.

 

1. STR boosts crit damage not crit rate.
2. DEX got more damage with less crit equip because of Katana's Two-handed, this passive increase your attack during critical which doesn't count as crit damage thus doesn't get amplified by crit damage %.
3. STR got more damage with more crit equip because the stat adds base crit damage which gets amplified by crit damage %.

Katana's Two-handed passive effect are pretty unique compared to other class, which made the STR vs DEX confusing. owo

 

Thnx for replying ^^ I did know about str adding only crit dmg, not crit rate. I did have some crit equip but they arent that high. So from what you said I guess my dex katana is stronger because my crit dmg% from equip (and not enough str, since its incomplete) isnt enough to really boost my crit. Also, from what you said, does that mean cdmg+(number)% is better than just cdmg+(number only, no percent)?

 

Ahh I see, I mentioned that str boosts crit rate in my post. My bad, I meant crit dmg.

 

Simplified:

• CDmg+ increases more crit damage for DEX build, because it have less base crit damage but more base damage
• CDmg% increases more crit damage for STR build, because it have more base crit damage but less base damage

Then theres Two-handed which scales based on your base damage.

Because of mob direct effective deff was apply before any multiplier . STR give u much critical damage multiplier , but str build have low ATK gain for katana . In the other hand DEX have much higher katana gain on ATK.
