The First Encounter

Jackie told me to go to her area so that I can grind off some items and equipment with her. So, of course I did! Why the heck would I want to kill these mobs with just my bare hands? although if being a martial artist in this game has a good thing, then I would dominate easily. Being able to know MMA made me feel that it is easy to kill with just my bare hands, but if I can get myself a knuckle or a dagger, that would be great!

A few ticks of the designated meeting place, I saw something strange. Somewhat huge. Like boss huge! I had to hide! I don't have any equipment with me and barely just surviving with a few potions I got from hunting and stat points I haven't spent yet and of course, skill books I don't even know if I should use or not! DAMN! Wait a minute, I see Jackie with a few people fighting the big silhouette. I know it's Jackie because I saw her gear when she popped up in my SATCON. Okay, time to work with what I got! I sprinted towards the big mob and found out that it was a Hydra! Based from the previous MMOs that I've played, Hydras tend to be stronger when their head is cut. Much like in Hercules, but in a way harder way because they also double their stats and the HP of that monster regenerates to 2x full each time the head gets cut. So far, they managed to make it 20x harder! A group of 10 is trying to kill it now along with Jackie. As I was about to try a good blow to stun a head, all heads turned to me! SHIT! I'M IN DEEP TROUBLE IF EVEN ONE HEAD HITS ME. The normal damage would cause me to use 5 potions, but a single blow this time would seriously get me out of here and spawning somewhere I wouldn't even know! Who knows? I might not even respawn! Just as the Hydra was about to attack me, another player was able to remove the aggro from me back to him. Guess he was the tank of the team. PHEW! ALMOST!

Jackie came in to pull me out of the fight. "WHAT THE HELL MAN! YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT NOR LEVEL TO HELP US OUT! STOP WASTING OUR TIME AND KILL THE OTHER MOBS IN THE AREA, THEY DROP BASIC EQUIPMENT AND DECENT AMOUNT OF EXP!"

Stunned and amazed, she continued fighting the monster. But they are getting out matched each time they slice of a head. Gotta think! GOTTA THINK! An idea popped into my head. I ran as far away as I can and found the mobs Jackie was talking about. Time to farm real quick! First few monsters were a bit hard because I didn't have a decent damage output since I didn't put any stat point in. A bow dropped. A sword dropped. A dagger dropped. A cloth armor dropped. Then a few more drops then I found everything that I needed. Got a full gear and now I know what to build. I rushed to where the Hydra was, and what I saw was just pure massacre. The first brigade that tried to kill the monster was wiped out. I tried to start a SATCON conversation with Jackie, but she is not responding. SHIT! Don't go all SAO or .HACK//G.U on me! And then I heard my phone ringing outside of the game. Since it was connected to my SATCON due to a guide I saw, I answered the phone and Jackie was there.

"I'm fine. I can't log in now. Maybe the game has no respawn and you would have to survive till someone finishes the game. Just, don't die now. The Hydra got stronger and we didn't know why."

STUPID! How can a single hydra wipe out a brigade? They had a good combo sequence and plan. Before I rushed out of the scene, I can see them dealing good damage until some stupid dagger user simply slices a head. Anyway, I explained to Jackie that I am in the scene now and the Hydra is chasing me. I built a good stat so as to I can evade and hit well with dual daggers. Of course, the stat just helped me in game, but the real movement was still coming from my mind, so I am able to work with a quicker reflex. I told Jackie that I would finish off the Hydra and tell her the drops. If she had a laptop, she would be able to see what I am seeing in my gear. Okay Hydra, I'm done chatting with my friend. Now, it's time to end you. I know how to reduce its heads so that it would be an easier kill. The regeneration only happens when you give it time to heal. So, in order for the Hydra NOT to heal or get another head popping out, I would have to block the neck. Simply by either trying to get it to stagger out, or to do an attack to me. Even if I try to tie the neck, it would still regenerate. So I would have to be quick on dealing a good damage.

"1!"..."1!"..."1!"... My damage is just 1?! I gotta cut the heads! Good thing I have a sword in my inventory. Gotta use that first to simply get a good cut.

One head down...Two...Three...Four...Five...Six...Stagger!...Seven...Eight...Stagger!...Nine...Stagger!...Ten...Stagger... Just a few more then I would just have to keep on hitting it and keeping it busy with me so that it wouldn't regenerate the heads it lost! Eleven... Twelve... Thirteen... Stagger... Fourteen... Fifteen... That's enough! Five heads left, five times the damage, better than 20 times!

The battle went on and on, and I am seeing other players watching in the distance. They were not helping because they saw the corpse around me and the Hydra. As if they thought that they would die outside of the game. So, guess I would solo all the goodies then if I win this match.

A few moments later, The hydra stopped attacking me. Will it regenerate it's heads and add 30 more heads now? Gotta make sure it doesn't! I rushed in and tried to attack the Hydra, but it's hide got tougher! Five heads turned into one. I saw the HP bar of the Hydra, and it was still the same. But what is happening now? It became agile and more fierce! Even the bystanders had to go a bit farther because they might get hit. The tail got longer and the hide got even thicker. Most of my attacks are getting blocked! How the heck am I going to defeat this now? I can't run away because even if I try to, it would easily catch up on me, and might even regenerate the other heads! The necks are still fresh and it looks like it will regenerate any time, and that is the biggest worry that I have right now other than dying in game. If I die now, the bystanders would have no choice but to fight. But that means that we would all end up with nothing to do this summer! Gotta think... wait a sec... The hide is thicker, which means blunt weapons works better since it would make it soft! But where do I get a blunt weapon?! All i have is a bow, two daggers, and a sword... I know! The bow! I can use that as a stick for now to smash down the armor a bit and then slice it off! The idea sounds stupid, but it's actually working! The hide gets dented and leaves an opening for a good pierce! It looks like one last hit would finish this guy off, better not waste any time!

POOF!!! LEVEL UP!!!
