I noticed there are few tutorials about magic gunning, but they are either outdated or impractical, so i thought why not bring magic gun up to the present times and repolish it so heres the tutorial!!!

Main points of magic gunner: your physical damage will far exceed your magic damage, but that is fine because magic will allow you to have useful damage against bosses that make physical damage become 1 damage

Advantages magic gunner has over normal bow and bowgun and staff: self proration, high evasion use numbers, extreme mobility, invincibility by soul hunter and Elegant Poise, high physical damage and at least somewhat decent magical damage for 1 damage bosses, can handle just about anything such as bosses that either resists physical attacks or magical attacks, incredible solo capabilities, all round dps with crossfire burst snipe Imperial ray and finale, tons of fun being a gunner that can also use magic at least to a decent degree!!!

Stats: max dex((priority)), 255 str((max out later on too))

(( Note: the Equipments below are minimum requirements to have an extremely high crit rate in order to do well even against bosses with absurd crit resistance, and require decent to high budget, not beginner friendly)), conversion will give you at least decent matk with +S refined elemental Magic Devices to make magic skills at least deal decent damage as your secondary means of dealing damage.

    Equipments:

Player crafted 5th Anniv Bowgun((change to player made 6th Anniv or higher Bowgun in the future with preferably better stats)) 2 slotted with stats cr22cd20cd10%a11%((use better stats if available)) refined to +S with xtals Megiston the Champion and Mardula. ((if 1s use Megiston the Champion only))

Magic Device each elements refined to +S

Player Crafted 2 slotted Armor refined to +S with stats cd10%cr22cd20a11%((use better stats if available)) with xtals Yule Cat and Demonic Quasar.((if 1s use Demonic Quasar only))

Bear Hat 2 slotted refined to +S with xtals Stellar Ooze/Mercy, note: any cheap 2s additional with at least +15 crit rate are good enough if you need some affordability, or if you can afford 70m+ spina for 2s Mage Cape, aim for Mage Cape 2s with xtals Stellar Ooze and Mercy. ((if 1s use only Stellar Ooze or Mercy))

Time Warp Watch slotted with xtals Seele Zauga, or Machina Ring 2s with xtals Seele Zauga and Volgagon, and If you can afford 100m+ price for expensive 2 slotted ring, aim for Full Blossom Ring 2 slotted with xtals Seele Zauga and Venena 2. ((If 1s then Time Warp Watch with Seele Zauga or Machina Ring 2s with Seele Zauga and Volgagon should suffice))

With Meikyou Shisui you should be able to hit even bosses that have +100 crit resist using physical skills

And the skill tree build is as follows

    Magic:

    Lances 10

    Impact 7

    Finale 10

    Burst 10

    Shot:

    Moeba 1

    Shot Mastery 10

    Long Range 10

    Quickdraw 10

    Crossfire 10

    Decoy 10

    Dual Sword:

    Reflex 1

    Dark Skills:

    Soul hunter 1

    Support Skills:

    Recover 1

    High Cycle 10

    Mononofu:

    Shukuchi 1

    Meikyou Shisui 10

    Minstrel:

    Ad Lib 1

    Wizard Skills:

    Imperial Ray 10

    Familiar 10

    Magic Warrior:

    Magic Warrior Mastery 10

    Conversion 10

    Enchant Spell 10

    Resonance 10

    Enchant Burst 10((for matk buff))

    Halberd:

    God Speed Wield 10

    Priest:

    Holy Fist 1

    Gaurd:

    Light Armor Mastery 5-10

    Mirage Evasion 10

    Assassin:

    Backstep 1

    Dancer Skill:

    Elegant Poise 1

    Battle Skill:

    Spellburst 10

    Combos Are:

Keep Crossfire Uncomboed to allow Crossfire charge buildup for powerful Crossfire in another combo

Do not use God Speed Wield unless you are sure you are skilled enough to be completely untouchable by even boss ranged no colored basic attacks and have perfect timing with soul hunter

Use Elegant Poise as an invincibility frame alternative to soul hunter if you are not confident with God Speed Wield, and use Recover skill if you get unavoidable ailments in order to keep using Elegant Poise effectively

Use evasion when casting spells or decoy to properly use mirage evasion

Backstep, Impact Tough, Burst smite, Finale Smite((for magic damage and use in solo play and party play))

Impact uncomboed((keep using until 3 stacks of burst before using the burst combo above for instant cast bursts))

Meikyou Shisui, Crossfire Smite, Finale Smite((physical damage))

Ad Lib, Impact Tough, Finale Swift, Holy Fist consecutive

Moeba Shot, Decoy Shot mind's eye, Finale Smite((awsome ampr))

Reflex, Imperial Ray Smite, Finale Smite ((3rd magic damage option

    Land Buffs:

Level 6 and beyond Yakisoba for ampr

    Avatar stats: Ampr

    Potions: Energy Bottle EX

And thats all for the modern and up to date guide of Magic Gunner and i hope this guide helps all those who aspire to be a Gun Mage, and feel free to ask questions about magic gunner and i will do my best to help answer them!!!

how do you play this at lower levels and without 2s gears?
in which order would you learn the skills and how do you fight? especially before tier 4 unlocks.

you know, when i was younger, guides would explain how to build from lv1.
today's "guides" are just like 'hey, here's a random list of exclusively tier 4 skills for which you need a skill reset to get them all, and oddly specific player-crafted equipment priced for billions of spinas,
which may or may not be completely outdated with the next update in 2 months. this is the best build ever, you should try it."

Latest stats are a10cd10cd20cr22, so those 7% are probably from some old ideas.
Getting 2s +S additional sounds fun, but when youre gonna be using gsw why bother +S?
    Same for armor.
Honestly, I doubt it will work out with 1str, since youre:
    1) losing out too much crit dmg;
    2) crit chance for magic is crit/5;
    3) making that armor will require you to do -11% atk.

ill give my straight opinion this setup is very impractical (both side you get heavily behind from usual bg and mage)

you should still go using traditional set but with cspd (dex str build) only currently good synergy for bg+md hybrid is imperial ray because you can get high cspd possible to reduce casting time or instant cast it and able to crit magic 100%

ex. usual cf method + imperial ray, fatal shot and trigger imperial ray spam
    -ether flare,ele slash(sub md ele)
-spell enchant ele (actually never i test this but this is most good triggering imperial ray in case it work because you wont apply 2x magic proration in spam loop)
-eburst (omni element for multiple elem boss)

why imperial ray for magic side? this skill is ATK 25% + 75% MATK Ratio is good for low matk class and this skill can crit 100% regardless your crit rate as long your is cat alive

Finish all main quests first to unlock tier 4 skills, do infestors quest until cap level which should take a few days, make a blacksmith and keep producing until 2 slotted equipment with the specific stats and farm the xtals rather than buying them

I did note that godspeed wield is only used if you are confident in your ability to avoid non colored zone attacks which can mess you up if your not careful about those in combat, so contingency is a good thing, and its why i devised a combo to swift the soul hunter in such situations where getting hit by a noncolored attack is nearly to fully inevitable

That can work i will modify the guide to allow for magic gunners to get enough cspd to instant cast imperial ray((watched some yt about imperial ray doing more damage than burst)) while having around +160 crit rate for physical skills for bosses with super crit resist like irestidia, and i will eliminate burst from the guide for the superior imperial ray and enchant burst, though i am unsure about replacing int for str for magic gunner, will magic gunner be able to get decent matk and magical damage without int? That is my question before i will remodel the guide in the manner necessary

the dmg scalling is actually almost same dex str vs dex int using imperial ray (diffrence is multiplier vs matk) for being intless build you can use mpierce for high mdef boss while you can focus increasing stats that benefit both phy/mag side (like cdmg,srd/lrd)

I am hoping for someone with a working internal recording device that happens to have a magic gunner be the ones to do the gameplay with this build, because mobizen and kinemaster isn't working for me, that is why the tutorial is all text based

then you should add a lv200 friend mercenary to the list of requirements
with what character? what if someone newly starts the game and wants to play a magic gunner because they always did that in other games?
    more like "only against Irestida".
Ruin Golem is the only one that drops it's defense after breaking and Maton Sword is the only one that can have it's attacks cancelled with paralyisis or stop. those mechanics are unique to specific enemies. if there's a boss that doubles it's attack power when hit with freeze, you don't want to cast Blizzard at all.
those gimmicks shouldn't be the only deciding factor for skill choices,
otherwise Intense Knife would be the most op skill in the game because it can one-shot Golden Potum.

I've tried magic gunner before, here are the pros and cons of the build:

    PROS:
+ Insanely stupid mana regen, you NEVER run out unless you purposely spam high MP combos and even then, it regenerates quickly enough.
+ Can maximize phys attack and magic attack, BG only gains ATK from DEX leaving you free to distribute to INT.
+ Very adaptable playstyle and naturally fast. DEX increases CSPD, shot skills are naturally quick. Near immunity to bad proration.
+ Range, also depends on the BG, can go from 3m ~ 10m.

    CONS:
    - It's a jack of all trades master of none DPS. Really good for solo, terrible for team gameplay.
    - Low damage compared to pure bow and pure mage, has a higher rate but is inconsequential due to the naturally fast pace of most battles.
    - Has insane equipment requirements as you need to maximize both magical and physical damage. (CSPD, ATK, MATK, CRT, CDMG are the stats needed)

    Some notes:
    > You can use finale with this build but Burst is a far better option to aim towards as you get magic wall which can knock back small aggro'd enemies and Blast in the same line. Burst is also affected by CSPD which is naturally high for Magic Bowgun users. Finale is slow, can let you get hit which can cancel CF charging. Not to say not to take finale because you get impact and lances in the same line as well. In terms of obtaining skills, burst has the higher priority for synergizing with shot skills.

    > May require heavy armor to gain some guard in case you get hit. With how low your HP would be when prioritizing CSPD, ATK, MATK, CRT and CDMG, some form of defense is necessary and with the long range Magic BG has, needing a high evasion with fast recharge isn't as necessary. 1k ASPD is needed for Decoy but you can get that from 1s gear or skills like Quick Aura and GSW

    > With the inclusion of auto spell, requires setting up magic combos so that everytime you auto attack you use magic.

    > GSW is NOT necessary for this build and is in fact very detrimental given that magic can lock you in place. You only want magic on auto spell at later levels not early game.

    ___________________________________________________

I think that's all I have on magic gun for now, anyone else want more info?

    > Overall a good build, especially for soloing. Have mine on reserve whilst working on

Very informative experience you shared of magic gunner and allows us to pinpoint the small flaws in the magic gunner guide to be fixed which i then fixed and had to use the spare oblivion and reset books ingame for my own magic gunner, and what do you think of str-dex stats for magic gunner allowing us to have the full physical damage of a regular bg build but also decent matk through conversion?

Considering Conversion doesn't factor in INT at all in its formula and depends on MD refine and Weapon atk, so might as well go all out on physical power and crit damage and still get the benefit of magical power from Conversion for spells as magic gunner?

You can probably forgo INT entirely tbh with Conversion but magic attacks scale with INT so you lose out in the long term meaning magic attacks begin to get lesser and lesser until using them is no more than a gimmick at the end.

You need INT for magic unless you stick to wizard and imperial ray isn't exactly the best magic skill in the game, nor is advanced familiar. Wizard skill damage is terrible in general.
    > Blizzard damage is too low for any normal monster of significant strength. Good for starter though.
    > Mana Crystal needs a stupid high CSPD.
    > Lightning is terrible damage with an abysmal rate. Great for combo filler though.
    > Stone Barrier is useful but low durability.
    > Meteor has damage but requires dumb luck. Good for using with save tag in boss maps only where normal mobs can't screw you over.
    > Imperial Ray has a stupid long cast time and SLOW animation for being a setup skill for low damage high magic proration infliction.

The only skill which reasonably boosts CSPD is high cycle from the support skill tree which is useful for magic gun due to natural high range. Otherwise, you need items.

Compared to the rate of damage of magic skills, using physical skills is more preferred because they don't have attached pre-loading times and their damage can more or less match magic due to Crit Damage

That is true i guess i will remodel the guide to delete the wizard skills for some other skill trees that might be more beneficial than wizard and replace dex-str for dex-int and then ask again your evaluation on the guide before using more oblivion and reset books

For one, your equipment requirement section is only understandable to long time players of toram. Even 2s gear is for long time/end game players.

Try to get your build to work with 1s gear or try something else.

Finale can work with magic gun, it just has less priority than burst when making the build because when you finish all mq and hit lv160 or so, you only have so much skill points. Magic gun needs a LOT of skill points. Don't forget t5 skills are releasing soon.

Minimum Stat Focus for magic gun is:
    1k aspd
    Max cspd
    100% CRT
    Max CDMG

For skills, at t4, main damaging skills are cross fire, burst and finale.
    > Cross fire applies in all situations.
    > Burst applicable for auto spell and fast bosses
    > Finale for team situations and spow bosses.

The hard thing with magic gun is you need to build for all 3, which may change with t5 skills.

Honestly, before you made the guide, you should try out the build first and see how it stacks up in game on budget equipment before releasing it.
