Which katana build is best for Rank Hogging/Rank battles

hey guys! Been wondering which katana build is best when it comes to rank hogging and battling for ranks.

I’m currently using a full ode build focused on cdmg equips so i use meikyo to get the crit. Thing is when it’s battling for ranks, the mp consumption is too intense so i end up chaging to a full crit ico ifrid armor. But tbh it’s still huge mp consump when using my combo (meikyo-zantei/hasso smite-impact consecutive). Figured this basic combo is still better than low mp long combos as those take time and gives the chance of the boss to disrupt you.

Currently been trying the full crit build through full crit equips and i must say, the damage is significantly lower but the mp consumption is definitely much better. It gives a chance to prorate and use ampr more because crit attacks don’t miss.

Which build in your opinion is better for battles as such? Thanks!

 

Why would you want to rank hog? No really? What would you achieve from doing that? Even if you do make the perfect build for it you will never beat a player that spams 1000 mana potion in one fight. Rank hog is one of the most pointless and stupid things that players invented its just the opposite of how regular bosses are farmed, ruining proration and taking 20mins when it should complete in 2mins, I guess they wanna feel special and different.

 

Rank hogging is just to feed their ego, I guess.

Rank hog? You are building up for tournaments? I too, agree with you that a build should be holistically well, so even if you are up against pure builds like tanker or DPS, you still has other ranks to secure your additional rewards, but if you are up against just average players and you rank hog all the way, others will really feel salty and probably kick out cos you are hogging their ranks, which is not very necessary cos you only need a rank to get the additional reward, give others the opportunity lol ( I am guilty of that )

 

Thats one of the problem since it involves spina prize no one will ever play fair. Its always unfair coz ppl can spam 5-7mp combos constantly with mana potions. They also got life potions to never worry about taking damage.

 

Exactly why it’s fun tho cos you’re not just thinking about getting one rank when you play it so you have to make sure that there’s overall balance within your character. Not just focused on damage or whichever. So which do you think is better tho for hog? Full crit or full ode lmao.. thanks!

 

Well i guess that’s partly true since there’s no way of know or maybe those hosting tourneys as such know how to manage? I’m just here asking cos i wanna try it in the near future. Change the things i do in game up a bit ^^

 

Ode? Odelon? IMO, crit users can hit more often, leading to breaker rank and crit increases damage dealt, giving you higher chance of getting attacker, not against pure DPS though, and with more skill hits, you generate more aggro, thus tanker, for me, I can even go for support as well without a pure supporter, but that's probably too much... And also, you need to know the difference between just getting the most aggro and actually being able to tank

 

Tankers can also potentially rank hog, stealing breaker, tanker and supporter

 

Yeah that’s what i was thinking since crit users miss less compared to relying on meikyo for crit rate. Yeah i’m pretty sure tanks can actually win a lot through breaker suppor and tank ranks. So your advice would be to go for full crit when it comes to this? Cos pure dps don’t matter come to think of it..

 

Yes, cos there are too many pures out there to compete for attacker rank. But I am not sure about katana though, cos I major in 2H

The ones hosting tourneys know about it and they cant do anything about it. Make sure to buy at least 1000 mana potions if you are gonna join in one of these coz you are not gonna win if you dont gl

I hate rank hoggers too but I think he means like in tourneys and all, competition between players
