Who Else?

So who else is guilty of this?
I have 0 clue what is happening in the main line.

I stopped paying attention after we beat the brutal dragon when he was under control of the weird crystal stuff.
Yeahh that was a long time ago, but I just stopped being interested in the story line x:
It doesn't peak my interest, so I only go through the chapters for the nice exp and the xp alone.

Whom else is guilty of this terrible thing? Lol!​

 

I played a Japanese gacha game called Merc storia that has stories and lots of characters as their main sellinh point. Played competitively for about 4 years since there are guild war and raid system. The game is not translated so I played blindly not knowing the story whatsoever the whole time. Now the game is on the 6th anniversary and I still have no clue about the story.

I do plan on machine translating the stories before the game reach the end of its lifetime. The illustrations are really beautiful and the main storyline have been finished since last year. There's also a video of the ending compliling the conclusion of every main characters and its beautifully done. Yet I still don't know about them, Its kinda sad since I feel like im missing out on such a beautiful content of the game. Its been adapted into anime so I'll start off from there.

 

Wait....there is a storyline? To me it’s just a lot of random stuff that makes no sense, it started with this weird crysta thingy that was op to be easily defeated with ....water? I honestly don’t care for the story line since it’s long boring and dragged out. Thank god for a skip button after the first storyline run.

 

I have to agree I don't like it.. its a bit too long. I do wish they would of stopped a long time ago revolving this entire chain of events. I did enjoy the crystal story line that ended with the Brutal Dragon but once that was done I just sorta stopped having interest.

 

well, chapter 2 was really boring compared to chapter 1, and chapter 3 was only good at the end because it had so many unrelated side quests in it.
but chapter 4 is like chapter 1 again, just darker, chapter 5 is good and the most dynamic one since there is no backtracking.
chapter 6 starts rather slow, but the story gets much darker from there. chapter 7 is great, you missed alot there.
chapter 8 begins like chapter 2, but the middle part is amazing. the current chapter 9 is mostly elvish history lessons but a big climax like in chapter 7 is to be expected.

Most of the mq isn't that interesting but the chapter in the dark domain was the my favourite.

 

I'm lvl 70 and at the majestic waste! I've really enjoyed the story. Its basic and simple to follow...not overwhelmingly engaging but nice and light. Keeps me interested to find out what's next while leveling me!

I just don't like Pelulu being in the story... I wonder when she's gonna disappear... Like, all other NPCs come and go, so why won't she?

Am guilty about not reading MQ but recently, I made a new character so I can understand the whole story more this time. I remember one part of the recent MQ where this antagonist character kills these people, burning them alive and all that's left of them is this spot of red ashes or something somewhere on the map. That was truly sickening D:

For now we have the key part of the story:
-the origin of the world
-the whereabouts of the gods
-the antagonists being the coenubias that are somehow related to the whole situation.


The story is pretty coherent imo, some part are under explored though, like the otherworld part with Nurethoth, there's so little to relate to the coenubias if there's even any.

did they know those things since the start or its just some random that makes sense?

like that girl in scaro town, she was using a magic in her face, and now we know that she is a spy

btw i lvled almost 30 characters+ each time i read a part of the history, now i read the new ones

I wouldn't say "things from 4 years ago now make sense" since it feels like asobimo is just making stuff up as they go. ...I was going to list examples until I realized I hardly remember anything (- - ; )

 

Yeah I agree with Argo above, it feels like there’s no writer for the lore in Toram, Asobimo is just making thing up as they progress.
For example, in Chapter 3, we needed the blessing from a powerful god to activate the Sorcery Gem so we can go to the Gate of another world and seal it. So when we were finding the blessing, we asked Pino, Mauez, and Naiata, they all tried, nothing happened. This signifies that they are not powerful enough. Then when we went to the Fortress, we asked the captain if he knew any powerful god around, he said that if there was a god, the monsters wouldn’t attack the fortress in the first place, then Balsette intervened that “We never know, he might be watching us whether we can overcome the trial”. Then suddenly a bunch of monsters attacked the fortress so we had to fight them. After defeating the monsters, our Sorcery Gem suddenly activated, then Balsette said “there might be a god around here, I think he saw your work and gave energy to the Sorcery Gem”. This implies that Balsette is obviously that powerful god and is aware that we overcame his “trial”, thus granting us the power. Yet when in Chapter 9 finale, in the battle to recapture Elden Baum, when we fought along side with Balsette, the dude didn’t even know he himself is a powerful god and only realized that after Pelulu accidentally dropped a divine bangle that was CONVENIENTLY placed there. He said that now he remembers everything and all his power and memories were stored in the bangle so this means he lost all his memories before. If he lost all his memories and power prior to this, then how did he know he was a god or was powerful enough to grant us the blessing for the Sorcery Gem?
I think the devs don’t even play their game and read the lore or there could be a writer at first (I personally think Chapter 1-4 are great, the world building is there, the back story of the temple, the empress’s tomb, the town near the factory, the Dark Continent and the entire different races of people who once lived there and how Almas created the Akaku Desert world after the Cataclysm, and also Goovua’s last words foreshadowing something, After that everything went bullshit, you just go to point A, kill the bad guy, then go point B and kill another bad guy, Chapter 7 is an exception since you still have some back story of the dark knights like Baltf’s, Felien’s, and Ornlarf’s relationships with each other, though not much). I think the first writer either quit or was fired then Asobimo just made things up from there on or they did hire a second writer who has no idea what the story was about, thus writing his own story and that results in the storyline not being consistent.

it's not just the story, character design also changed drastically from chapter 6 onwards. brighter colours, puffy hairstyles, weird clothing and big anime eyes.
