Dual sword getting lesser. Endangered species

Well is dual sword really useful or useless?
They seem to have little dmg.. cannot really tank also..unless reflex lv 10. (Also not very good ) .. hp seem squishy.. cannot really break well..only gt hardhit..

Nowaday dual sword seem disappearing.. alway see party looking for sniper and mage or storm mage..

 

Dual Wielder here

-In terms of damage, I can't compete with a mage or sniper. Period.
-HP is squishy. Can't tank for long period of time. (Evasion helps sometimes)
-I've no problem breaking using HH though. I always get breaker rank.

I don't know if I'm useful in a party though

 

i think DW needs at least lvl 3 skill tree
reflex is a good skill (but getting your DEF and MDEF lower? meh..... )
the only skill i like is the 3 passive
twin slash is good, but the damage is still low compared to other skill, sometimes astute is much powerful than it
TBH i really like DW, but the lack of damage, HP & more.... this job will be a history.....

 

I think one of the few DW mains in the game that always, emphasis on ALWAYS use their DW. Farm, boss hunt, and whatever it maybe. I think the only reason DW is not that much popular is because of the Stat build. People don't really know much about what to put. Should i go full dex, full agi, half dex half agi, 1:1:1 str dex agi. Or something like that. Skills are fairly rasy to understand. You just need the core passives and take either crossparry or twin slash path. I have made my 2nd DW taking the Crossparry path and the sonic drive path in sword skills and getting 150 agi 30 str 30 dex.

I hope that there will be a lvl 3 skill for DW or it'll just be a sub tree of the sword tree.

 

And with the right build. You can outdps a 2h, 1h, and a mage. Like what im doing right now at roga. Seems impossible to out dps an archer because of the huge burst of damage from Snipe

 

DSs problem is, like mentioned above, that it's a more complicated than other "classes".
And its kind of weak if you ask me, the only way they'd be able to out DPS 2 hand or mage if the other classes had no idea what they were doing.
I mean everytime I'm in a party with a DS he always seems to do hardly 10% of the dmg. e.e

 

Lol... all the hype..when it just come out... a team of 4 dual.. .. it seem that even brawler had more population than dual.. lol..

Tempted to go 2h due to dmg.. but the dual sword is too cool to give up ... why cannot dual weild 2 2h sword.. it will be OP.. one side vsword one side bone sword... hahah

 

The truth of the matter is that, at the moment, snipers and magicians are the simplest and most effective way to deal damage... Which is what Toram has inadvertently demanded of its more popular builds. In an effort to create a diverse range of "classes" they've abandoned some skill trees, damage wise(I'm talking about martial skills mostly but you can also include dual wielding) with the justification that you can supplement your damage with skills from a different tree, regardless of how unorthodox that may seem. This has, in effect, created an imbalance with the more "classic" classes who can't compete with the damage of other classes by virtue of their own skill trees alone.

And, as I mentioned in the beginning, damage is the name of the game. Breaking just about anyone can do nowadays and the classic "tank" and "healers" have their needs overshadowed by the fact that you can wear your enemy down in a matter of seconds by overpowering them with dps.

As my guild and some other people are aware, I look at snipe with disdain, personally. It put Rangers on the map, yes, but at a cost to balance. That's all I really have to say on the matter.

Play Dual Swords not because it's useful but because you enjoy the class. It's what I do(not that I dual wield).

I still enjoy my DW too even though with time I see maybe more cons than pros, but I still am liking it . I use it less recently though at Boss Roga cos with the higher numbers of mages, archers, a brawler/tank is needed more. And I feel that at most places, I always see attackers but hardly a tank or a brawler to immobilize. So more often than not I find myself having to switch to one of the two too.

I also agree with jeremeel that maybe when we do have lvl3 skills it would be better, cos right now it's Lvl2 skills against other's Lvl3 skills. (Not all, some)

PS. Yup I do see less DWs nowadays too. :x

And that hw dual turn extinct... we must had a zoo for dual sword so they wun get extinct

 

I'm already DW lvl 24, full dex with BD Sword
in stat have atk 200, but dmg only 100~130 when math crit, I don't know, why it happen
But, here I haven't spend my skill point to Sword Mastery, Quick Slash and Sword Tech,
my question is, Does above three skills is needed by DW ?

 

the 3 skill.... can if u wan to improve the dmg ...
sword mastery and quick slash i wold say not so impt..

U will have hit att spd cap so...quick slash lv 5 is what i suggest if u wan to go for sword tech.

 

Maybe the little dmg atk is a disadvantage of DW
coz when I unequip subweapon, my atk dmg is is increase significant with same sword, but aspd is decrease also
but, I still enjoy my Swordsman and my DW, both can be useful as needed, I think, haha
