1st Time Mage Questions

    So for the fast few days I have been playing a 2h swordsman tank and decided to create a mage for a change.
    Can someone help me clarify some stuff?
    1. Do magical devices, even if not stated, increases the range/radius of the skills? I noticed that since I am using a staff, those using magical devices has better skills in terms of radius.
    2. Combos? So I tried combos using mage, my problem I encountered was during a boss fight, I tried a simple combo, Magic Arrow then Magic Lance, after casting the 1st skill, I can't even move, any suggestions?
    3. How does mages recover MP during a boss fight? AMPR only applies to physical and basic attacks right?
    4. What level should MP charge be?
    5. Recommended armor?

    1. yes, md has wider aoe compared to staff
    2. use other skills like holy fist or if you're a dagger mage you can add dagger skills to your combo & impact at lv7 is instant cast
    3. mp charge set to lv10

    Holy fist? So I should equip knuckles or dagger as secondary weapon?

    Holy fist is a priest skill. Dagger is the optimal choice. im7i12 is int7% matk7% int+12. ^_^

    Yes, no matter how crappy your MD is, it always has wider Magic: Wall & Magic: Storm than staves.

    I don't use Arrow as combo opener when solo, it has freakin slow cast time. Try to setup a combo from combination of skills between Shield / Dagger and Magic.
    You might wanna take a look at this amazing build by Precaria if you haven't yet: LINK

    Mages also do auto attacks, they're also recovering MP from it o_O in my case, I have lv 10 Shell Break (chance to recover 400MP if Armor Break inflicted to enemies) and Quick Draw (chance to recover 100MP from any success active skills) never had a headache with MP in boss battles :bloodtrail:

    Though I rarely use it in boss battle, i hv lv 10 MP charge, just in case.

    Player crafted INT,MATK +7% is good.

    oops forgot that im7i12 isn't craftable on armor yet, thats for wep. im7 would be ur armor for player craft.
    i'm not sure on boss drops tho since i dont use it

    they do, as long as your main weapon is not a staff.
    if it is, you get the staff bonus instead.
    you can only move in a combo if the target is out of skill range.
    since Lances has higher range than arrows, this will not happen unless you change the skill order.
    but you can shorten the cast time of lances with Chain Cast.
    normal attacks only.
    you can use Power Wave to attack from a distance.
    10, you want it as fast as possible.
    depends on your stats, weapon and preferences.

    I am browsing the consignment board for a good staff since I accidentally sold my Minautor Staff.
    Why is it that some staff has no extra effects? Is this implied that they have one only hidden?

    When I check the consignment board, there were no listed effects compared to the one on the blacksmith.
    Mage Rod has a maxMP+100 but on the consignment board, it has none. just the description that it was crafted by a player.

    npc craft or boss drop weapons & armors are generally not tradable, so you'll never see those on cb.

    No, not until a statter adds them. There are player crafted versions, and the Npc or boss drop versions. Npc or boss drops have specific set stats, and players can add stats by consuming potential of weapons or armor

    anyone with Blacksmith Skills, specificall Upgrade Equipment.
    the number and limit of stats depends on the smith's character level.
    the TEC stat raises the success rate when consuming more potential than available.

    the higher the level of the smith, the better :)
    mine is just lv47, i could make something like a Minotaur Staff but others can give you better results :p

    I encountered a new problem now. During boss fights, toram crashes, automatically closes itself. I did some experiment and I think it has something to do with mage combos. I never experienced this on my swordsman or in my mage when I don't do combos or just farming mobs. The crash was triggered on boss fights during combo execution.

    Have anyone encountered this also?

    It mostly happens when you kill a boss while you are casting something and it happen frequently with magic : arrow.
