So, finale is terrible when matched up to physical dps that has good gear, by like A LOT. But my idea isnt to fix finale but keep it the same way it is. (Hear me out) Finale serves as a crutch for newer/less experienced players and that doesnt have to change. But magic as a whole should absolutely not stay a crutch as something to throw away as you get better.

    -change the way burst works
Burst has been an underwhelming disappointment for many and lacks the spamable nature of many other t4 dps skills like tenryu (which still needs a nerf imo), meteor, shining e.c.t. I don't know it's current multipler due to a certain thread being deleted (RIP the chicken in a boot ;-; ) or add other special effects like with magic blade's automatic element switch and something has to change about that cast time. (Also I'm not a mage and I never did like magic so I have almost no idea how burst works please don't kill me)

    - The next would be more work, adding more magic skills. There is a clear lack of magic skills in the game and the only ones that are even used being finale, impact and storm. That's a little lacking no? But the toram team could make a new skill tree for more "financialy stable" magic users without losing the crutch of simplicity and power finale provides. Adding more spamable magic skills with higher multipliers, but we all know how great they are at making new skills and skill balance *cough* still can't balance t4 *cough* dark/magic blade

How about removing the spammable nature of the physical skills instead?

That works to, but my logic was if you cant beat them join them ._." But even if you did change the nature of physical skills, you are still rooted to the ground as a mage and forced to take all the 15k aoes in the world

While I love burst and actually use it as my main DPS skill for multiple builds, I did have a thought of how to improve it. The multiplier/constant would stay the same(or maybe even slightly decreased) but it would be an instant cast. And instead of the cast time being reduced for every magic skill before it, it’s power would increase for every magic skill before it with maybe a max stack of 5.

If this skill were spammable combined with 1 sec mp charge + maximizer u can guess what kind of havoc will mages make
Btw 4.5k matk and neutral no brave.
And they can restore back finale to the way it was
    Make burst spammable
    Shorten mp charge
Thats all the changes magic skill tree needs
And yeah +1 sec cast time for magic skill on weapons other than staff/md

Like I said, I have absolutely NO idea how magic burst works, all I know is that cast time is stoopid slow without using skills before but what I do know is that I have never ever seen a mage do as much damage as a physical dps or be able to not die terribly(tbh what dps doesnt die terribly), why not just play an archer at that rate?

Thing is if you have a mage with 4.5k matk you can definitely do this with a katana

Wouldnt it be more fun if your skills werent completely inferior to your physical counter part?

Remember finale online? I do. Even before the nerf, the future shortcomings of finale has already been predicted, high skill constant means less growth from matk, long casting time will become a trouble if bosses that won't give you the chance was to be released. And here we are now, lfp finale is becoming less likely to be invited to a party. The most realistic hope of magic's growth is magic critical. Either enhance spellburst, rework element slash or raise the critical rate and cdmg conversion rate to magic crit or magic cdmg. Or at least the magic cdmg

Here is the thing, the whole problem is how each class relies on one, strongest skill of the skill tree with no synergy with previous skills, players could solely use that strongest skills and the only variables that affected the power are the skill power itself, your status, and your mp regeneration rate, hence they're spammable and makes the lower tier skills obsolete to use. The devs needs a way to implement lower tier skills to higher tier skills or create skills that could enhance lower tier skills. They also need a more elaborate mechanism to achieve the best damage output. This would lessen the spammable nature and encourage more variety, I like garyou tensei's mechanics that have synergy with zantei settetsu's armor break, but then tenryu ransei:zannou ruins it because of not so easy armor break.

I think that making physical skills less spamable is a good idea. They really need to balance the down side of physical skills. With some rationale...

I think reducing the stability of damage by physical skills if used repetitively, in addition to proration. Could be an easy to implement alternative? With invisible variable, that works like the consecutive combo tag.

I enjoy using mages, but it's in a support capacity now. Since most battles are over before finale is cast.

    Inferior u say hmmmm
Sir i can deal 900k to 1.2m on finale on Dy
I can deal same dmg on imitator ultimate
Can u do the same with phy class??
U dont really get how strong mages are do u
Everything in this game is physical
Means no proration issue for mages.
And they are about to get reworked.
Yeah sure i can make one or two op physical dps but no point in even trying something that u dont even like.
People also used to say same about ds before t4 skills

People can deal a large amount of damage with a lot of things, the issue is the Damage per second and the chances of inflicting the damage in the first place. The values do not matter if you cannot hit your attacks, Finale and a lot of the magic skills suffer from being easy to miss. A finale is more likely to miss on a moving boss than a Tenryu would. Tenryu Rensei, Meteor Smash, Dragoon Tooth are all skills that don't need to have careful timing most of the time to deal the 900k-1.2m you say, and they can do it more often than a Finale would. Finale takes a long time to go off and by the time the hits register, it is very likely the boss has already moved away.
Mages can be strong, but they have significant disadvantages with the current bosses. Of course, magic doesnt need to prorate that much because of all the physical skills, but that wont matter if you cant hit the boss.

There will always be a case of a very good mage player who can outdo the "op" physical players, but in most cases magic does not stack against those op physical skills. It would be easier for the developers to buff magic, but I feel that the developers should nerf physical skills and tone down bosses since they are slowly getting to ludicrously touhou-like stages.

Clearly to be said it is our choice to play what considered to be fun for ourself. No matter how inferior it is, many people would still playing certain classes.
But looking back and forth, mage player has been reduces to nothing. In my last 2 month after the rb, i do gemrun almost every day ( be like 10-20gem a week) and i never saw a mage join in the party.
So in my opinion, veteran player stop playing mage. Which is pretty boring for me as the party member without a mage. So why mage constantly dissapearing?
That question should easily be answered but could't be stated 100% true
Ps : true mage should be able to do ulti gemrun on seele bosses ( or any gemrun, it should be fun xD)

Finale only misses when boss moves in final delay of finale cast it dont miss all the time.
If ur in proper party chances of ur finale missing is 1/5. Only on moving bosses those who stay at one place like bkod scrader zelbuse and so on finale dont miss can only be guarded.

Never forget that mages magic atks still remains automatically prorated. I still see them as a good dps. Mages i knew even investing on elemental weapons for that extra dmg before. but now, most mages are LUK plagued this game. Did they really nerf mage? Or just rebalanced it? Or we chose to build it weaker?

And the chances of being in a proper party is?
A 20% chance is high enough to consider it significant since the chances of missing other skills are much much lower.
I agree on standing bosses, Finale is great, though still comparing it to the other classes I would not say it's significantly better. Many Shining Crosses and Meteor Smashes can match or exceed the amount of damage your finale will do because of how plentiful it is for physical characters to assault standing bosses. With decoy shot allowing them to gain infinate MP on a standing boss, they are more likely to be able to exceed Finale's damage with just spamming their best T4 skill and Impact (which automatically prorates for them) in the time it takes for a finale to actually hit.

I agree, a lot of the lash can be chalked down to the community downplaying mages. Mages can always be good DPS, and I've seen and played a Mage with great DPS. I dont think they nerfed mage, I just think it's much harder to play a mage as of right now.

I would say to play what you want because you should have fun, but I can see how mage oppression from how the game was designed can kill the fun for people who wanted to play a mage. But, I do recommend people to play mages if they really want to.
