Does anyone know what combo of gear and stats will give the maximum chance to evade. Like instead of a traditional eat all the damage tank, I was thinking about having a tank that can dodge the damage instead.

    AGI will give you dodge.

You could build a brawler using mirror shield which gives extra evade rate. Use provoke if you need to pull aggro. That should yield the dodgy tank you are looking for.

I recommend light remodelled armor for this build while others might suggest heavy for the guard rate. However, I think you want evade as your first line of defense and guard as a backup, right? If so, light would be the way to go.

Also, best sword would be 1H Accordion Fold sword. It has a Aggro +30% and it would boost the changes of keeping Aggro.

Then focus on both those stats. Make sure to max Hp boost and maybe use a Vita II potion to boost your tank to atleast 2k hp. I would make agi have a little more stat points then vit though. Don't make a 1:1 ratio.

Not necessary at this early stage. Get:
    Survival Skills
    Safe Rest 5
    HP Boost 10 - +1,000 HP

    Shield Skills
    Shield Mastery 5
    Force Shield 10 - +500 HP
    Magical Shield 10 - +500 HP

Then use Vit II for +1,000 HP (lasts 30min per potion)

    Total = 3,000 HP
    Now you won't get 1-shot :)

No, don't ever use a mage as base when you fighting a melee-range battle. MP Charge without a staff or magic device takes 8 seconds. You are a stationery target when MP charging. Just get 1 rank for MP Charge from the Magic skill tree.

For recovering MP when fighting melee-range battles, go for Sober Analysis. S.A rank 10 has Attack MP Recovery (AMPR), which is +30ampr per set of auto attack. Then supplement that with gears and crystals which have ampr stats.

I wouldn't do Mage for base. Only use the MP charge out of battle. Since you won't be equipped with a magic device or staff it takes a long time till it raises the MP up. Using the MP charge in battle with reduce the chances of not getting hit because you won't be able to move. This will leave you wide open for attacks.

A regular swordsman. A magic swordsman does nothing since you're only buying one skill from the magic tree. Don't put any pts in the sword skills and focus more on the battle skills, survival, shield, and armor if you want but that is optional.

Yes, it's the same for magic swordsman. Depends on your play style. Short range attack strategy (up to 8m) or melee range (less than 4m)?
The correct tactic to recover MP is to use Sober Analysis in battle because it can be fatal to stand still while MP Charging for more than 3 seconds.

And during that time, you won't be able to dodge and evade. You'll want to keep moving and continue pulling aggro.
Besides, as a magic swordsman, you'll want to recover mp while sustaining your attacks to keep pulling aggro. Then execute combos.

    Which means you are:
Auto attacks (reduce mob's phy resistance) > Combo (uses MP) > Auto Attacks (recover mp at the same time) > Combo > repeat

So at all times, you won't be a standing target waiting to be slaughtered.

Now that I think of it brawler can be better than swordsman. It has more tumble moves than a swordsman so that can help not get attacked. It's also not like you are going to be using a lot of skills that cost a lot of MP.

There are plenty of different ways you can make this build so yeah there's gonna be lots of stuff added.
