Gaurd Strike DPS?

Would anyone mind giving tips. I'm planning to make a 1h tempest that uses gaurd Strike as secondary DPS when soloing. How do I balance gaurd power/rate with atk and crit rate/dmg???

This is my old 1h shield guard striker build

Blade skills:-
Hard hit 10
Sonic blade 5
Spiral air 10 (keep this at 5 since it got butchered)
Tempest 10
Astute 10
Trigger 10
Sword mastery 5
Quick slash 5
War cry 10
Total 70

Shield skills:-
Shield mastery 5
Shield bash 5
Shield cannon 5
Guard strike 10
Protection 5
Aegis 10
Guardian 10
Total 50

Survival skills:-
Hp boost 10
Total 15

Guard skills:-
Heavy mastery 10
Advanced guard 5-10 (add this skill at the end add 5-10 depending on sp left)

Magic skills:-
Arrows 5
Javelin 5
Lance 5
Impact 7
Mp charge 1
Total 23

Sp used = 173-178

Your main dps skills will be tempest, trigger, guard strike, astute.

Stats:- full str rest vit

Gears:- At least sword and armor you wanna focus on cdmg and critical while shield and add gear will be our main guard rate/power boosters
Sword:- 100 +C/B c12cd12cd7%atk3% or c121212atk7% or c1212127 PG
Shield:- Relief shield NPC/DROP, Anniv Shield III NPC, marble shield DROP +C/+B refine (i have a large variety of shields for different purpose)
Armor:- Any def +C/+B c12cd12cd7%str3% or c121212str7% or c1212127 ROGA (if 2s then go for roga+jade)
Add:- Forehead guard +C/+B Grylle
Ring:- Muscle talisman III brexiz/eerie or knights talisman with eerie/mauez

Optimum stats:-
Critical rate 75%+ with astute
Cdmg 240%+
Guard rate 35%+ base becomes 2x with guardian making it 70%+
Guard power 35-45%
HP = 6k+
MP = 900+ (keep vitaplusII and magiadd2 with you for easy boost)
ATK = try to aim at least 1k-1.1k with refine and stuff you might wanna add some dex instead of vit if you are confident about your hp.
ASPD = 1k np with giga speed
AMPR = 30+ with trigger
Aggro = 25%+ if heavy spammer in pt, ditch aggro while soloing.
Reached 18k guard strike with this much while soloing you might do even better as when i made it i didnt have war cry or forehead guard i would say with this you can easily reach 25-30k guard strikes, looking forward to it.

I've tried your Guard Striker build, but ASPD is 140+ without Giga Speed potion.
I have to change Forehead Guard to Magic Swordsman's Garb + GS xtal if I want an extra 600 ASPD.
How did you achieve 1k ASPD?

 

Oops its supposed to mean 1k aspd with giga speed.

Actually the one that i made is a bit different that the one that i posted heres the main difference:-
---> didnt have magic skills
---> quick slash and shield mastery were lvl10 making my aspd ~250 without giga and 1k with it
With both of them at lvl5 i think its still possible to reach at least 900+ with giga speed which is high enough to be honest only 0.5sec delay
---> advanced guard wasnt there as it was lvl110cap

For gears you wanna reach highest possible guard power first with max advanced guard and forehead guard available now you can reach 47% guard power even without exca golem (use pg or zega instead). Not only good for strike but also for survival. Lets see if they release the guard version of assassin garb with crit+15 and guard power+10% would be really good.

Later realized Magic skills i would say are really important for guard strike build both javelin + impact to make a long proration friendly combo since guard activates even if you are stuck in a combo unlike flash blast evasion build which only activates if you are outside the combo. Which means guard strike absorbs physical proration even faster. Not only that but impact's effect itself is just too op to lose in terms of combo building (Its mainstream for a reason).

Sample combo:- (with guardian its easy to swift both of them)
Its a very clever use of impact and trigger to make a 1mp combo where even guardian is swifted.

1.)Astute + trigger(save) + impact(swift)
Now with impact active
2.)Trigger + guardian(save) + war cry(cons) + astute(smite) + impact(cons) + tempest(smite) + javelin(swift) impact making the combo 1mp
Now for a boss that can interrupt you a lot like don yeti you can switch astute smite with hard hit swift to flinch them before they can flinch you. Or use shorter combos below.

Once guardian is active you and you dont wanna use it again try this set of combo instead
3.)Astute + war cry(save) + trigger(cons) + guardian(cons)
4.)Hard hit + war cry(save) + astute(smite) + impact(cons) + tempest(smite) + trigger(cons)
These arent exactly proration friendly but with trigger end you can get the good ampr boost for auto attacking.

Also possible ones with minor change are:-
5.)Holy fist + war cry(save) + astute(smite) + trigger(cons) + guardian(cons)
6.)Astute + war cry(save) + impact(cons) + tempest(smite) + smash(swift)
If you are careful you can remove the smash ender as its 1m range (need it at lvl1 only)

1h shield guard strike is a very versatile build as theres million possible combos try making a few yourself and tell me if you find any interesting combo.

 

Oh forgot to mention now revamped super sonic blade can also be a very good in terms of dps if you wanna cap it at 125
Its also possible to make sonic blade as a main dps skill as it can get 100% crit without astute for 1h even at lvl5 and its ability to go back of the boss is also useful for dodging.
Combo1) Astute + war cry(save) + trigger(cons) + guardian(cons) + impact(cons)
Followed by:-
Combo2) sonic blade + astute(cons) + impact(cons)
Then combo2 again repeatedly being so fast you can keep astute active almost all the time making guard strike high crit too. Also it being 90% dmg and sonic blade 100% will dish out quite well too.

Thanks for pointing out the "mystery" behind the difference in aspd.

As for combos, I'm using:
1. Shield Bash + Warcry (save) + Trigger Slash (cons) + Guardian (cons) -
This will be the 1st combo in battles to activate Guardian when I fight in parties (to transit into a Tank).
I can also use it to stun with Shield Bash (I have it at Slvl 10). Since stun has a cooldown and Guardian lasts for some time, I won't be spamming this combo anyway.

2. Hard Hit + Warcry (save) + Astute (smite) + Impact (cons) + Trigger Slash (cons)
This is my main DPS and attack buff combo with Trigger as ender for auto attacks' ampr buff.
Although this 2nd combo isn't as proration friendly as your Javelin (swift) ender combo, auto attacks allows me to recover mp while I prorate.
This combo has worked well for me when I was in a party with at least 1 mage. I was able to hit 47k ticks for Tempest on crit after I auto attack a couple of times in between combos.

3. Sonic Blade + Astute (cons) + Impact (cons)
Used as a boss chaser, especially for those bosses which move around a lot.

Considering that many bosses now have anti-breaks, I'm thinking of either getting Holy Fist, Assault Attack or Halberd's Flash Stab to replace breaking skills.

 

I think so. It was at least a week ago when I was fighting the 3 Hanami stage 2 bosses on Hard difficulty. I'll test it on other bosses.

Edit: Oh and there's some difference in stats. Mine is Full Str, 30 Vit, 30.Dex @ lvl 116.

 

Lol.. ya how I hope I was THAT OP. But I managed to secure least 3 ranks 90% of the time with a slightly lower lvl 2H and 1 mage in party.

I'm modifying my skill sets for the new skill P.Def. Before I allocate SPs wrongly, can I ask does Sword Technique improve Tempest's damage/attack power?
I didn't see you using it in your Guard Striker build and it got me curious.

 

Yeah didnt keep it coz skill points are like always scarce and at that time i didnt know how much boost the skill gives.
Also burger man is saying that techniques doesnt affect tempest. I never knew about that either as this was kinda my first "successful" sword user.
If you want to keep p.def you can give up on guard skills as theres plenty of new gears (new boss 1h+shield) that can easily overcome that loss of guard.

I missed out on all the 1k emblems, 2 First Aids and the "complete 2 skill trees" emblems (7 SPs if I count correctly).
So I only have 175 SPs to work with currently.

 

We have 10k Embelms too. First aid and complete 2 skill trees are easy to get, the others will need time.

 

i don't recomend tempest on a 1h, tkik + sb would be the way to go tbh if ur a knuckle user w/1h.. if shielded use the new knightskill blinding strike
