Hey guys I need help. So I bought an oracle robe for my mage with 38 potential but I don't really understand how I should upgrade it. I just made a blacksmith but I want to get a better understanding before I upgrade any skills or anything. I tried checking out a few guides but they've only confused me more lol. Maybe someone can simplify it for me. Thanks!

If you have black smith skills you can use potential to make stats like int4+%. The higher the pot the more options you have on the stats.

You need a full tech skill character to add the best stats.

Ok I think I got it. Put all my points in tech and lvl up upgrade equipment correct? Can you fail at an upgrade? Will you lose potential if you do?

You can gamble and yes you lose potential if you do fail.

if your upgrade is over the pot limit and results in a negative pot leftover, when you proceed to the next screen, it'll tell you the success rate, it can range from 0-99%, it is up to you whether or not you want to take that risk. If yes, then u hit start and hope that it will succeed.

Potential limit is the amount of potential you have on the gear. If it's over the limit you have a chance to gamble stats.
Make a new character. If you make a bs for like I also recommending combining it with a alchemist. Do pure Tech.

if u have a 38 pot available on the armor, and let say you select something and it requires 40 pot, so that leaves you at a -2 pot leftover, and the success rate for that is around 90% (rough estimate), leaving a 10% to fail. You can also increase your 38 pot limit by adding a negative stat in as well.

I made a new one just for that but I can't update any other stats beside the first 5. It says I'll be able to by lvl 40. That's why I asked should I save up all the points or not?

Save the points till you get a higher level. Ask a friend to plvl you or sell Bitter nuts and buy Nisel wood for the character.
