Lost Pet

I had gotten a Manticore from the board for 18k spina. I had let it out in my land and trained it til it was 86% disciplined and also fed it. but had stopped training when the stamina was a droplet. then I left it there and went exp training for 2 hours. When I went back to my land it was gone. I looked everywhere for it. It didn't even show up in the pet list menu. I had even logged out and in, still nothing. So I am wondering if this is a bug or if it is normal for pets to just disappear without warning. So would someone help me with this
