Noob Question: Lookin for [MD] Storm's "Combo Initiator"

Seems like staves have gotten along really well with daggers and arrows nowaday.
But my alchmage uses only a Magic Device and has no plan on changing into a Staff.
So I'm looking for a combo initiator to make a simple combo:
[an initiator - 1mp] // [Storm - 4mp](smite) // [a close-ranged ender - 1mp](cons)

I'm not sure which one would be better between KICKBACK(Hunter Tree) and SONIC WAVE(Martial Tree)

Sonic Wave has better range and the TUMBLE EFFECT (75% proc rate with MD, right?)
Kickback's KNOCKBACK seems to have 100% proc rate on every weapon iirc.

(My mage's base stats would be 255INT and a combination between LUK and VIT)

 

Currently, I like Sonic Wave's effects more than Kickback's.
(And its kicking animation makes my char much more cute too --- highly influenced.)
Just want to make sure if deciding to use Sonic Wave won't make me regret.
//But yeah, 75% proc rate is not really preferable. I prefer 100% if possible.
Also, wanna know if Assault Attack is good enough to be a candidate too...

 

Use holy fist.

Btw im curious whether md user can utilise flashblast or not?

Take advantage of a smited impact because it's the ultimate skill of md. ^_^

 

suppose it can many mds have evasion% stat on it.

ya impact is about 20% weaker then storm with MD but its much faster and less mp of course.

 

Sonic Wave is better than Kickback, but Kickback needs less points.
Holy Fist deals the most damage out of the three, but has only 1m range, so you might as well use Smash and upgrade to Sonic Wave later.

your welcome. holy fist damage is based on ATK and MATK so i think md/staff user will get benefit from that

while flash blast is still unknown whether its beneficial or not. i just feel MD has higher eva, but that might be just my feeling

 

holy fist could probably be a better choice for a more damage focused MD mage with int/agi.
holy fist>shellbreak [save]>smash or sonic[consec or swift]>impact[smite]>magic wall/bash/smash/sonic[swift or consec]

 

According to all the information,
I think I'll use SonicWave >> Storm(smite) >> Smash(cons)
then I may replace Smash with HolyFist once my SP is enough.

unless you also need Holy Fist for something else, you better leave it as it is.
in this combo the last skill does only 30% damage, so Holy Fist or Smash won't be much different

Saving my SP by 10 points more, I may now be able to switch from Sonic Wave to Impact too.
I'll consider the proration effect myself later on.
