I don't mean to be sour (like normal, lol) but this competition is a bit unfair since it's only dps based. You could say that it's "my fault" for not being the dps type of person, but if all of us were dps based then we would all drop like flies at higher level bosses (not saying that there aren't any dps builds with good survivability). You could always have a competition like: "Who can consume the least amount of revitas within x amount of time" in order to have a tanking competition that lasts a reasonable amount of time, and so forth.

Why not make a Tournament like that yourself then? There's no reason there can't be different kinds of tournaments going on for different kinds of builds and objectives. Just takes a bit of motivation.

Why? The whole point of the tournament is to see who can provide the best damage and survive while doing so. May as well keep the competition simple and leave it as formatted. Let it be tried out and have the Rank Hog section in another tournament. Better yet. Make one with a section like that in it.

... If one has no proper BS or Alchemist then that is expensive. (Not everyone is well equipped with everything.)

 

We all know that halberd users will win this tournament overall. Plus if this is a dps battle the referee should be a tank to keep the players from disadvantages just because they have aggro. The only users that have a crack at beating halberds are snipers and its obvious halberd will win cuz snipe generates too much aggro which will make them busy running around dodging shyt while the halberd user spams his combos.

 

You're well known enough i'm sure. If not you can always ask the sponsors of this one to make a tournament like the one you want.

As for resources. Depends on how big and how extravagant you want the prize pool to be. If it's your first tournament, don't over extend yourself and your partners with a hefty prize pool. Also, keep in mind that you're not paying for a venue, advertising, ticket production, builders, ect. that you'd be dealing with for a Tournament in real life. The upfront cost and prize pool shouldn't be expected to be great by the players participating in it. They aren't professionals performing for a crowd, and you're not professional tournament organizers. Think of it more as an event you're running for the participants (like paintball, laser tag, ect) as opposed to an actual Tournament.

For example. (THIS IS A HYPOTHETICAL. AS THE PRIZE HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED! Chill out people.)

This tournament doesn't have an announced tangible prize and at most guarantees a title of "Best in class" for this tournament. The entry fee pool could be used for prizes, but it's a "commitment fee" used as a way to profit the organizers of the tournament for doing a service and a way to vet out players that woulnd't be able to realistically compete. Which is fine. Since a prize pool of 5m for the top 3 of the tournament would require at least 20 people to participate to break even. 21 to profit 500k. In the end the players participating shouldn't be expecting a hefty prize for their participation. The prize is the competition and the biggest prize is getting to be the best in it.

There are several other ways to go about making a tournament. If you wish to front load an investment into a tournament and provide prizes. I insist that you start the application process early and let it stew for a month or two so that participants can be gathered to offset the investment. Advertise in game and make sure that you have a team that can help you run the tournament. I think the no investment method is best though. Especially if the participation cost for players is 500k and lower.

I'm gonna be honest, those 2 cents were more like a dollar. Now that I think of it, even though I'm not necessarily popular, I am a bit well known, and I don't really need recources, after all I could do something like "winner gets 50% of the entry fee money", I guess my only real problem is thay I don't really know a whole lot of people.
