In settings there's a switch to turn on critical/graze hits tooltip. Once turned on, all yellow numbers will also have either "critical!" Or "graze..." shown below.
Has this system been always there?
And I noticed that I got more graze hits at Roga compared to normal mobs. And roga has high dodge rate. Plus we all know that crit hits won't miss. Therefore I feel that it is probably a "missed" critical hit. Damage-wise,
graze hits seem to do 50% ~ 25% less damage than a regular crit. I don't know if accuracy helps reduce the trigger rate of graze hits. Anyone got any ideas?

the description of grazed attack (it was either in the setting or in the news page) states that grazed hits occur if the the accuracy rate is lower than the hit rate of the weapon, and those attacks will be performed with low stability.
so... raising accuracy should reduce the chances of grazed hits and they deal less damage because stability is reduced greatly.

"Accuracy rate is lower than the hit rate of the weapon..."
You mean when the accuracy rate is lower than the dodge rate of the target? Weapons have hit rate? I am confused.

if you are doing crit damage but ought to miss, you'll do graze hits (25% less) -- if your crit damage is 250%, less ΒΌ graze would be 185.5% crit dmg.

Now that means that that -accuracy in equip stats = less dmg... This is revolutionaryyyy!!!!! No more increasing only of crit rate in substitute to accuracy... Increasing accuracy is a must have again... Whooot!!!!

I would rather just use my mage instead of adding pointless dex to my halberd to hit higher dmg on nightmare runs. So yeaaah

I just found that white numbers can graze as well... This is so wierd. And graze hits don't always seem to do less damage. The only thing I can tell is that a target's dodge rate is most certainly related to how often you graze.
I wonder what graze hits are exactly...

I haven't seen a graze hit yet. I guess accuracy does help. With the exception of my main tank my builds have over 400 hit rate. And they don't miss much either even on high dodge bosses. Not crit based builds

Tested on roga got graze hits more

Graze reduces the stability last time I checked not the damage itself. My 1h 90% stability felt like 60% stability.

So does this mean hit rate is important now?

yes technically , which would make dex builds slightly more popular , but there are some bosses that even with high hit rate would still make you graze.

I was under the impression that graze hits calculate based on lowest stability of the weapon. As opposed Weapon + Stat + added stab stability. These are just my observations of it though, haven't tested it. o3o

    i did a SRgem run at imitator(nightmare)
most normal attack graze and the damage after 2-4 hits will drop to 0-1 damage(using bow)
as for snipe i didn't get any graze tho '-')/
