Adopt a Tank Movement!!!

Hi,i'm new to the game and i wanted to build a tank character. Any advice on how to distribute my stats? Also which skills should i take note of?
(i'm using 1 handed sword and shield)

 

1/2 DEX, 1/2 VIT should work nicely, or you could go 2/3 DEX, 1/3 VIT for more damage and a higher hit rate.

As far as skills go, I would try unlock these skills:

Blade Skills:
Hard Hit (lvl10)
Astute (lvl5 at least)
Trigger Slash (lvl6 at least)

Shield Skills:
Protection (lvl10)
Aegis (lvl10)
Shield Bash (lvl10, but lvl1 should do at first)
Force Shield (lvl10) (get this one later)
Magical Shield (lvl10) (get this one later)

Knight Skills:
Provoke or Rage Sword (lvl10)

Survival Skills:
HP Boost (lvl10)
Fighter's High (lvl10) (don't get this one until you have a high amount of hp)
Safe Rest (lvl5, but get lvl10 if you get Fighter's High)

Once you unlock combos, try to make this combo:
Hard Hit> Astute(consecutive)> Trigger Slash(consecutive)
This combo costs 1mp, and is good for interrupting your target's attacks.

The weapon description on halberd says flee increase evasion rate. Check the game b4 saying

 

Flee increases your dodge rate, the devs don't always translate their game correctly.

As someone who mained a Tank/Paladin for a YEAR. just wow. I thought this thread would be a nice place to check on once in a while but it got TOXIC REAlly Quickly...

But seriously, the Tank title should be reserved to Characters with Heavy Armor, A SHIELD, High HP, High DEF and High Aggro that even a GunFu spasm spamming can't keep up with. A Halberd with Survival skills,VIT stat and HP equipment isn't a tank because that's just a Halberd with high HP.

As long as you have some sort of method to reduce the damage you take, you can tank; you don't necessarily need high DEF or a shield.

 

Any class can tank doesnt mean all will have same efficiency there will always be other weapons which can specialize in tanking and halberd is NOT one of them.
Guard power? Even 2h can get it so they will still be better at tanking in the end the main skill trees matter the most not just the weapon equipped and everything is gonna change once 150 cap arrives either way, the skill after sanctuary will decide if any weapon can tank or not.

Theres so many magic devices with tank stats that doesnt make magic device main an efficient tank. 1 halberd with tank stats will not make the entire class an efficient tank.

 

If a tank can’t survive longer than halberd, then that tank isn't doing his role properly.
A Tank doesn't just stay in front of a boss and take all hits. The moving pad is still there during boss fights for reasons. One of which is getting away from danger zones.
Bringing up Guard Power% to justify halberds to be a valid class to tank. It doesn’t change the point that it is still nowhere close in being valid or efficient. I was Talking about Tanks that are +HP; -Dmg.
Furthermore, a Tank with a Shield is a lot more useful in many ways than a Tank that can’t equip a Shield and can’t inflict Interruption Skills. Don't even think about adding Knuckle skills on it because the Knuckle Tank is +Sclass on that since it has increased inflict chance.
And why are you mentioning other MMORPGs when I am talking about the Realm of Toram.
To conclude, I doubt that a Tank in those MMORPGs would choose a Great Sword(Atk) over a Shield(Def) to block a hit from an enemy.

Theres a difference between "can work" and "is efficient"

I want to see how future unfolds as far as tanking new boss/mini boss for any class is concerned

 

having the flexibility to tank/dps at same time be cool esp if party dps lacks the gears/desired dmg output. but most of the time a party with 3-4 trying to dps on high HP/dmg boss can result to a more longer kill vs a party with a dedicated roles as far as proration is concerned. like a semi tank/dps will keep throwing his dps physical combo 50-100k skills that might closes the sweet window for the true dps 250-300k+ combo.
