Make sure to add some vit! At least 20, preferably 40+ for a melee class.

    FOR SOLO:
2h for solo with lv3 skills and revitas and mercs is probably one of the best options. But ailments and fast moving bosses are hard.

Katana is great as well, Zantei to counterattack and Shikuchi for dodging and mp. All that's really needed, don't fall for long 1 mp combos because it'll kill you and generate a lot of aggro. Also, some ailments still affect you after counterattacking.

Bow/Bowgun is not very good lv3 solo because you'll generate way more aggro than your mercs can handle. Even if you impact>snipe it doesn't do too much damage.

Staff/MD you get hit and you can't cast... not too good. Plus the most damaging mage skills are stationary(like storm and finale)

1h/knuckle can survive pretty well but have low dps, which makes it harder to survive because the fight is longer and you take more overall damage. These guys are just better at surviving high damage attacks. With a shield, you can use Perfect Defense at level 3 knight skills(lv125). Really helps with survivability and tanking and getting aggro.

Halberd has bad ampr, and to recover mp they need to lose health(A LOT OF IT, like more than 50% I think). Strike stab spam.

    FOR PT:
Anything(dps, tank, support etc.) if you're gonna be in a pt. With level 3 skills only, the best are tanks and shield mage support. That's what most people want in their pts if you don't have lv4 skills.

2H has its perks but yea, practicality wise, mage is both a farmer and dmg dealer
