Better Stats for Katana Build?

Hello, everyone. I'm a newbie in katana, so I wanna ask everyone's opinion whether I should max STR or DEX if I'm planning to build a Katana char using the drop weapon, Modestia?
And I'm planning to use Garyou as well.
Any advice?

I believe that STR>DEX is the better option, as the extra CRITICAL DAMAGE makes up for the slightly lower attack. Not that this matters too much since DEX can be above 200 now so the difference between the two is rather minimal.

 

Oh, I see, thanks for answering! Now that you mention it, extra cdmage would be good after we have 100 crate! ^^

 

Ahoy! Are you saying that DEX > STR has less CD?? I look 2 builds...complete opposite in the stats ^^;...one was STR > DEX or other one was DEX > STR. The DEX>STR seems to say " DPS + solid build"...im not sure what to do :3. Enlighten me~

 

From what I've remembered of the countless threads and debates as well as youtube videos I've seen DEX>STR is better against bosses with higher def, and STR>DEX is better against bosses with low def, though like Foxie-chan said we're reaching the point where we can almost max 2 stats together at the future level cap so it won't matter at that point

 

I suggest giving this tome a read and come to your own conclusions, or make your own decisions, whatever....

Personally, I went with STR=DEX up until both are 200, then started on STR, w/ some DEX when I don't have enough for that 1 more CDMG...

 

I can't seem to open the "tome" anymore. I just reached lvl 150 and I'm actually following your stat build str=dex until both are 200. Would you please care to help me? I've been searching for a better katana build and I feel like I'm stuck on what to do now that I'm on t4 skill tree. Thank you so much.

For stats, you can focus on either str or dex, the difference isn't that big. Now that you have lv4 skills, max Tenryu Ransei, it'll be your main damaging skill. Also max Kairiki Ranshin, it's an atk and AMPR buff.

How Tenryu works: First usage consumes 300MP, you get a 10s buff duration in which Tenryu's MP cost becomes 100MP, and it gets more powerful with each use. You can extend the duration by either using Magadachi and not getting hit during the animation, or parrying an attack with Zantei. Doing either successfully will result in the skill changing to Tenryu Ransei: Zannou (you get a short period of invincibility during its animation) and Tenryu's buff duration extended to 30s.

Also I guess you could use Youtube builds as references.
