Advising on changing your passwords

Hi, currently Asobimo just announced that Toram's database had severe damage, and they are trying to recover from it. And according to them, there was no cyber attack involved and no data leaked.

From my experience, this is likely a cover up, because by Japanese cyber-security laws, if their customer's data was leaked, they will face extreme punishment and even go bankrupt (Suzuki P may even have to go to jail) if they could not compensate the users. Therefore, there is a high chance that they will never admit it, especially to international players like us.

That's said, our information could have possibly been compromised. Therefore, I would advise everyone to change your password for the emails you used for your toram account. The best password is an easy to remember but very long password, such as a phrase. (for example: "my cow is bigger than your cow" is an excellent password.) Including special characters will not strengthen your password at all even though some tech companies advised you to do so because they were idiots.

Why should you change you password? Can the attackers get your password from Toram database? It's very likely no. Even with the database, the attackers will not be able to get your passwords because they are stored in the form of "hash" (random, gibberish characters and numbers). However, they still know you email address, and they may try to run their password database on your emails to see if you use a commonly used password. And if you did, they will steal your email and do shady stuff with it.

Be safe, and don't think you are safe.

After new update when starting app they ask for account name and password to login game at the very start of game.
You can change account password then.

I was talking about email password, you don't need to change your game password unless you have important stuff in game.

 

I'll update my passwords anyway. No harm in changing it.
