Im not talking about the significance of the white day itself for the Japanese but more of a content in form of in-game event. For example the valentine, Indonesians dont celebrate them as much, and that was not my point. When it comes to the contents that are provided with the events they offer significance to players in general. Basically international players are still being left out of such contents. So while it might be justified to continue a seasonal events due to the activity of JP players, its quite a rub of salt to the wound to other International players that couldn't benefit from them

they didn't set the end date of the event yet, neither did they decide on the compensation. it's possible that the event duration will be prolonged for us.
the rollback is quickly done, but they want to avoid it at all costs. so they are trying other methods of recovery now, that's why it takes so long.
we are talking about 3 months here, 2 weeks or little longer doesn't tip the scales.

Response i received when enquiring about orb purchases and avatar tickets if the roll back happens .. seems they will apparently compensate us separately if we were affected in this way.. 'Thank you for contacting Toram Online Customer Support. Concerning your inquiry, please note that we have not yet determined if the rollback will take place. However, if the rollback is to occur, we will provide compensation for this server error and an appropriate compensation separately for those affected by the rollback. For the latest update on the progress of our system recovery, please check our Official Site for details. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. We hope to bring you a service that you can continue to enjoy, and request for your continued patronage. Thank you, Toram Online Customer Support'

So you know more than they are releasing on thier official website, because I am working from the assumption that the information asobimo is giving us is correct... Is that where I am going wrong?

You guys never experienced copying or downloading a 20tb file and stuck at 99%. After you forcefully complete it a hard way and you try to unzip the file but the file fails to be read. Oh btw the 20tb file is your backup because the old pc is spoiled without reason.
Now you are calling help for any method to recover that pc from your contact, while the dog outside are barking for whatever reason
. And your brother is reminding you that he will coming home because he need to use the pc urgenly which is the spoiled one.
    God bless.

Your neighbour is question you why you cant download the file again in a faster speed, say in 5min? Shall i pass the question to the hardware?

Suppose you own a big company that makes RPG Games for Android. Your games cross the 1m+ downloads and Google recommends you as Editor's Choice.
You get emails from international players everyday telling you to do something about Bots. You pay no heed to their suggestions. After making a decent amount of money, you are advised to divide your players into different servers and improve your server health. You do nothing either. The bots keep rising, you still do nothing. Most of your team keeps working on making new games(which is a good thing) but that doesn't earn much revenue. You decide to keep making more games. Suddenly your most downloaded game crashes. You don't hire professionals who would do the work of your staffs who take 2 days off on Saturday and Sunday. The users get impatient so you release a fixing date but then extend it by 5 days without a viable reason. You realize how not backing up your database is backfiring now. Now, the BOTS seem to be important in your eyes. You are about to lose a lot of money and trust of your customers worldwide now.
    In short,

Jokes aside, I respect that they are working hard and I hope they are successful in fixing it soon :)

It would make sense to add events to JP server when 90% of server's down its reasonable to keep the other 10% happy. Personally my guess is some character data is lost in the void and are still trying ways to restore those accounts they wont pull the rollback card unless they absolutely have to the community backlash and refund reports would look incredibly bad for them.

Make a Japanese account, farm the mats and then have them give them to you if we get back on before the event ends. But if I remember correctly it is a 2 week event so that means possibly SOL.

    This.

At most, expect a 3 month down time at Max.

This is because, if they roll back, people's money would be affected where as if they don't and just leave the servers off, they lose less compared to what has to be compensated.

Expected profit margin would be affected but if they haven't done the roll back, it means that whatever compensation they have to give would be a significant loss.

Just sit back and hold on until like June if so long even.

Unless they are refunding money, they lose NOTHING from compensating. These are digital items and they can just poof from thin air.

When they do this compensation, it means no market for the items they used as compensation for a good period of time.

That in addition to the costs of keeping the server running means operating at a net loss.

Also consider the negative publicity for when they don't adequately compensate in addition to what they have now for the server down time.

They still lose more by just rolling back as it is right now.

If I were to guess, Asobimo is actually working on pushing forward the development of game content rather than focussing entirely on the server being down.

This might seem retarded but change your perspective to a business view.

You know a roll back is inevitable. You know that whatever compensation you give out is going to leave your company DRY for a few weeks to months.

Fixing a server isn't going to get you much profit even if it's down, in fact turning it on as it is right now without a 'profit net' is going to make you incur serious loss in addition to the bad press.

    Basically you're ****ed.

What a smart business man would do is let the game content team work double time to boost development of game content to hold in reserve whilst at the same time, delay turning on the servers for a set time for them to work.

When the game content is finished, turn back on the servers but don't push the game content. At this point, your customer service team and server technicians have to work the double time:
    1) To deal with the gigatons of inadequate compensation complaints

    2) To actively monitor the server for any emergency maintenance.

After a while, like two weeks or so, push out game content teasers and have your PR team work on lessening the after effects.

Then in a few months, it'd probably blow over and operation returns to normal.

That's why, a good guess at server down time is 3 months at most. Anything more (or even approaching the 3 months) would incur a loss due to non-operation.

Basic business theory but I suppose Asobimo has plans to buffer this loss with how they're working on their other games right now.

And all of these speculations would be worthless if they did their backups more frequently :kappa:
