‘Tank’

[General question, when confirmed will ask more in respective section]
Which type is better? More rounded off for most bosses~?
I know l need to observe n learn boss patterns too so..
2h? (I assume its dps+ semi-tank?)(have Integridar)
1h+shield
or
knuckle+shield?
(Ik bow gun+ shield tank is there too, but l lack those ‘event special’ equips)
After the while fiasco with Gespenst in Hell n even normal, l feel that l should have a tank of my own too, so l dont have to be dependent on strangers much..

 

Recommend 1H+shield.
Blade skill have buff for HP regen, AMPR, Critical, Damage, ASPD and Motion. Warcry not only good on Damage buff but also good on draw aggro.

Knight Skill Rage Sword have ManaCut and aggro buff, and is 100% critical. PDef just skip cause everyone know it.

Shield Skill is common used so won’t talk so much here, but shield cannon becomes OP recently. SP wasted ? No matter how you still need to learn shield Bash, just spend another 5 SP and you will got OP damage and range Stun skill.

Not recommend 2H because it’s hard to take over the aggro from spammer, and if you can you survivability may reduce.

Or if too much, just direct me to a good guide ( l have read many guides..but eventually get lost somewhere x3 )
Note : It would be my first time as tank so l lack the proper knowledge required for such build( thou tanks have fascinated me since quite a while).

 

Tanks are more diverse than just 1h shield and its not the best all around in my opinion. 1h is great for holding aggro in boss fights. Knucks for break parts and interruption. Bowguns are best for mass mini boss farming.

Knowing me, l would most probably use one in boss fights, unless l want to level my ‘future, to-be-made’ tank, then maybe mini bosses.

 

Welp, knux tank shines on hell mode ges 2 and is the best interrupt tank imo.

1HS is a balance type tank with some interruption skills, decent ampr and aggro holder.

BG Tank is a beastnon aggro generation and ampr which is great for mini boss farming and anti melee boss but lacks interruption skills and relies only on stuns from shield tree.

 

I was already stuck deciding between 1h n knuckle tanks..

They're all fun to play.. but in the end it all depends on what you enjoy playing or farming.

I have been wanting to try out 1h/2h..basically sword skills till now..
Knuckle, while seems awesome, l heard, requires alot of input before u get decent output from it..(plus l discarded/sold off most of knuckles l got from event since playing knuckle class never crossed my mind..except from gun fu ; but seemed too..complex..mix of meele n long range @.@; )
So..1h it is l guess xD

 

Knuck Tank Imo is the best.

provoke is rly all u need.

For 1v1 you have access to all breaking skills, lethargy, fear

for mass mini farming you have earthbind for nice heal spam.

My tank is MTL Vit and also deals a heft amt of dmg just from shell break and shield cannon.

 

Due to what you need actually is DPS-tank but not pure tank, I will still suggest go to 1H-shield. The reason is the stat use for 1H.

1H stat gain 2 ATK for each point on STR or DEX, Knuc each 2 ATk from AGi and 0.5 on DEX. Most of the DPS-Tank require HP which is VIT to stay survive(resistant still need ofc, but you can use gem or buff to cover). In this situation mean second stat most properly is VIT. Compare to 255 STR & 255 AGI, STR & AGi both give 510 ATK but STR increase 50% Critical Damage which is higher than invest on AGi.

Another reason is Knight Skill, new rebalance increase the Knight Skill - Binding Strike Damage by VIT, this Make STR>VIT build have advantage on DPS and aggro, beside by invest sp on rage sword can replace Impact by saving 22 sp ( at least provoke still useful than magic arrow). The only demerit is you can’t use finale as ender. But all benefit above can’t apply on knuc because limited to 1H/2H only.

I don’t have a build on 1HS DPS-tank, but I have a 1HS BS-tank and I really frustrated on spending SP, thus above is made by my experience. Suzuki say this year will have another free reset ( forgot when ), so why not try to use new character run a test for both, then only decide which is suitable for your style.

i recommend knuckle tank if you want to learn deeper into tanking

tankers = cursed with knowledge for fighting bosses.

if you use a knuck tank you can learn alot about which boss is ok to interrupt,when to interrupt,how to hold aggro efficiently,it also provides you knowledge about multiple break spots.

plus the piercer for knucks is cheaper than ohs lol.

If you want the tankiest of tanks, then 1h Shield is the best. The anniv sword stat would also provide high amount of magic resist, maxhp and ampr. You need a way to reach high enough crit though. Need crate for the auto attacks? Just get a Lvl 10 meikyo shisui, use it either manually or as combo ender. Wanna use power wave for proration? Cant instant shukuchi? Use sonic blade for the closeout. Wanna heal the melee party members? Get Nature's wonder and spam em. The cons would be the unreliable tumble, but you still have 100% flinch and stun just like knuck tank. If you don't like decoy shot then trigger slash would boost your ampr.

Then if you want to go semi dps, rage sword, buster blade and sword tempest are good skills that don't require additional c. rate. Unlike chariot, they don't mess up the boss' pattern with the fear. 1h Sword also has the highest base atk amongst all the 3 tank weapons(excluding staff tank) and have atk growth from str unlike knuck and bowgun, putting str also means more cdmg. Am I biased? Maybe. It's just that a 1h sword with a shield is the very image of a "knight", using shield with knuckles, staff and Bowguns are weird.
