    Tl;dr : Extra range on auto-attacks.
For swords it is like it's name, a power wave. Literally. Idk about staffs though...

It makes your auto attacks able to hit further.
What I meant to say was that normally with out the passive when you swing a sword it only hits at 1-2m,but with it it'll hit at a further distance. It also adds a wave effect every auto attack slash from swords.

I don't really know but if that increasing normal attak range, it might be useful for archer/hunter build
Something like sniper build won't be just a dream anymore
Hit and run from really far

Yes, check the thread. It can be used with any weapon. The range cap is 10 meters so it would be useless for bow users but useful for gunners for example, because it expands distance limit from 8 to 10. I suppose the skill increases 1 meter per skill level. A dw with 10 points on this skill can attack from 10 meters afar. @Hatsu-ne tested it too with dual swords. And thanks to a comment from @Ergeruz I could confirm that equipping a magic device as sub-weapon cancels the damage reduction effect. (Although this won't work for 2-h or dw because with them you can't have an m. dev.)

Also if not equipped with a a staff or magic device as main weapon (or magic device as sub weapon), and you use a normal attack from beyond the normal range of the weapon you have equipped using power waves effect, damage will decrease for those normal attacks.

    Here's My Opinion:
    1) Great for fairy brawlers that recover mp through attacking
    2) Can utilize knuckle main w/ MD sub weapon to build a ranged brawler (regular attack + sonic wave)
    3) Not good for bow/bowgun builds
    4) Every tried staff w/ arrow throwing (Morning Star w/ Arrow Subweapon)? This may be the only applicable, and ridiculous, way to use a staff with power wave...
    5) Swordsmen (1h sword) can use with magic device to do damage with normal attacks (if dps) from range, or recover mp through attacks from range.
    6) Dual Sword could use for MP recovery since regular attack from close distance leave dual sword users vulnerable if they aren't used to timing their normal attacks
    7) Can allow dagger based builds to avoid cqc (however bowgun+dagger does this much better without the need for power wave)
    8) Will make your unarmed attacks look super cool

It's cool but side effects for non staff and device users is damage reduction which is not ideal. It's still fun skill build though.

Another advantage I can think of is using the range to kite boss and monsters. For those who do not know what is kiting, it means hit and run, hit and run from a distance and repeat.

    From my earlier post:

So yes it can be used like that. And since a staff is being used, damage won't decrease.
