boss farming class

    hello everyone, ive been thinking about making a decent boss farming character (normal difficulty) just to get some drops to sell, and wanted to read your opinions on what could be good. i plan on soloing them most of the time and i cant afford very expensive gear (2s +S, maybe only one) and i dont exactly need to get to level cap (so level 138 after main quest done)

    my thoughts so far:

    -cf/snipe archer using the following:
    cone bow III +B NS
    elemental arrows (drill bolt for neutral)
    heaven feather garb (boss drop)
    shaved ice hat/bear hat + gespenst II
    machina ring + venena + seele zauga
    ~this one does a lot of dmg for both low def and high def bosses, very reliable ampr due to ranged decoy shot, very reliable break skill with power shot (just kinda annoying due to cast time). however doesnt have any access to invincibility skills, need a lot of crit rate, lowered def due to arrow as sub, doesnt have great flee either due to no agi (dex>str stats), so it needs protection and aegis to get extra resistances.

    -2h meteor str>vit build:
    carbuncle edge (which i dont have and would very much like some tips to get this one fast) or super nielo sword III (needs berserk for 100% crit)
    heaven feather garb (boss drop)
    any add, but thinking about full bear/yashiro dad's mask + wandering wheel
    machina ring + venena + seele zauga
    ~this one has above 13k base hp, a lot of defense (with carbuncle due to no berserk) so it can even tank easy and allows for a little more reckless playstyle and allows some mistakes. problems are lower dmg output due to no physical pierce on harder bosses (except love scarf+handmade cookie but i think full bear+ww still does more dmg), not super reliable ampr and break skills (using impact for tumble)

    -dual wield str>agi:
    thunder axe (which i have from volgagon, and +aggro doesnt matter because im solo)
    elemental swords
    heaven feather (boss drop)
    snowman on the head/frog hat + any crysta
    machina ring + venena + seele
    ~this one is good but idk still testing it out, i really dont like it too much even though it has crazy ampr and stability, otherwise its pretty much the same as 2h but using phantom slash/elegant poise for invincibility, so needs perfect timing and a lot of mp.

    -halberd str>agi
    lil empress halberd+b ns
    lil empress dagger/fallen angel (which i dont have)/holy knife (for no tumble if needed)
    heaven feather garb (boss drop)
    shaved ice hat + gespenst II
    machina ring + venena + seele
    ~i really like halberd because of 100% physical pierce but i find it very hard to play because of high mp costs. i can upgrade gear as i have sold all my old +19 stats waiting for the new skills. otherwise same problems as the others: if boss moving too much its hard to ampr, even more unforgiving playstyle if using gsw, but has access to dive impact and elegant poise.

    -katana dex>str
    death samurai sword III
    no sub
    heaven feather garb (boss drop)
    full beard/top hat + ww/baphomela
    machina ring + venena + seele
    ~i didnt test this one so im not sure but on paper it could be good: 100% crit and a lot of hp due to the katana, has a lot of invincibility skills that are also the dps skills, and i think decent break skill with pommel strike (stun is also longer duration). the problems are ampr (i think, range is short for decoy shot), needs a ramp up time to get more tenryu stacks, proration, and no physical pierce (but can use garyou... which is gonna take a while to down high def bosses if i rely on that).

    so what you guys think, im very open to discussing this. example of bosses i plan on killing to get money:
    -twilight dragon
    -seele zauga
    -mozto machina

    katana has the best survival among those, but DS has the best mp recovery.
    2h and halberd are very risky because they sacrifice defense for mp. without that, they won't deal more damage than the others.
    bow is bad for solo, since you are very likely to get hit and can't charge crossfire. snipe is also slow on bows.

    For a normal boss farmer, i recommend something physical with sub MD.

    Reason is mainly for maximize. You can burst down normal boss quickly using up all your mp, then quickly refill it all back to repeat.

    Extra bonus would be knux/MD for potential flinchlocking too :rolleyes:

    Dual sword/halberd is the best option in here since it's easy to use/spam and it has a lot of survivability as well, katana is extremely hard to reach it full power (must have GSW+brave aura and you have to practice a lot to master it as well).

    i just posted some examples, and i would think from the list katana would be the weekest against him due to his crit resist (negating two-handed skill bonus)

    halberd is indeed risky but i dont understand why "for mp"? also didnt understand why 2h needs to sacrifice defense, i would think of the builds i posted the 2h build would be the tankiest

    also im not really sure about archer, thats one of the builds i actually played (i couldnt test all due to character slots and restrictive gear) and could actually farm bosses easy even if cf gets canceled (2 charges still does good dmg), snipe is slower than bowgun but it has 100% armor break chance and its not inside a combo so i cast it manually (also does good dmg without smite). my problem is lack of invincibility skills and lower survivability due to multiple crit rate gear and arrow as sub weapon.

    tho i dont see any problem on other katana users out there out-dps finale/dt n winning atker rank but meh probably bcos of their gears

    Imo physical class with shield sub is good for solo run boss that need break parts to get one of the mats, a good example of that is 1h shield sub.

    DW has the best survivability skill set than katana for this main reason:

    ✓Phantom Slash and Storm Reaper long invincibility frame. Those skills can avoid most attacks unlike maga and zantei that can only block the damage once.

    ✓Parry damage reduction and it adds a buff when used successfully which cost only 1mp. Magadachi at lvl 10 is very useful on some attacks because of 90% phy and mag resistance it provides but when your mp is at 2 mp bar, you can't use the skill same goes to zantei.

    ✓double ampr, like you're gonna run out of mana with DW. More mp = more survivability

    Warcry of Struggle needs <=50% hp, other than this they rely on ampr.
    boosting attack speed with GSW or Berserk sacrifices defense, Rampage sets def/mdef/dodge to 0.
    you can do without those, but your mp recovery will normal (slow). if you deplete mp too fast for attacks, you can't use defensive skills, and if you hold back it will take a long time.
    since a solo player must perform every role at once, you need extreme mp recovery to keep up with the skill usage.
    2h is less risky than halberd but also has only half the speed.

    Finale luck mage + tank pet is effective way to farm bosses.
    You can cast finale save far away, while your pet keep tanking.

    Best boss farmer is a 2h /w dark skills

    You have
    - Good self healing
    - Good ampr
    - High mobility
    - High dmg
    - Potential no hit runner

    Hmm if you don't need breaking (which knux would be most ideal), then i can also suggest the following setup:
    • CF char with GSW (+brave+warcry+kairiki too)
    • -100 aggro
    • any tank (merc/pet/player)
    With this you can happily set up decoy, prorate from safety and repeatedly drop snipe>CF as soon as charge count hits 3/5.

    Only hindered by bosses that can quickly wipe out merc/pet before you can take out the boss

    Well I'm doing like this actually, and I think i can handle with good result,bur sometimes i have difficult momment when I facing boss who beed breaking its parts to get some mats. Do you have any ideas?

    you all answer like he is gonna do ultimate boss. he said normal si its easy get halberd with mo charge and maximizer. 2k mp should be enough to kill normal boss
